Undoubtedly the worst stay I have had in all of my travel experiences. After reaching the property at 4 pm, there was nobody to be seen. No prior instructions or contact details were provided to us. We had to stand in the scorching heat for nearly 30 minutes, after which we decided to go and sit in a room as there is no reception. After travelling for nearly 30 hours to get to Dhermi, all one would want is to freshen up and use the bathroom. The landlady and her husband came in fuming and created a massive ruckus by yelling at the top of their voices. So much so that they wanted ONLY my wife to clean the shower area, else the landlady was going to cut it from our deposit. While taking us to our actual room, the man asked me where I was from. I am from India, so he made a condescending statement and asked if everyone in my country does the same. Now one can presume that it was a clearcut offensive statement. As Indians we are known to be one of the most hospitable people and this statement came as a shocker to me. Now when we were already having a bad day, things just got worse. As soon as my wife shut the bathroom door, the mirror on top of the basin fell down and broke. This happened literally in the first 5 minutes we entered the room and when the husband had taken a 100 Euro deposit. Upon calling them and showing them the same, they went all guns blazing and started yelling at the top of their voices. The argument went on for almost an hour with no plausible outcome. I felt my entire journey to this place to attend Anjunadeep explorations was just not worth it, but luckily the event turned out to be fabulous. There is also a proper leakage under the pot. I have a video of this, please do reach out in case you need it to be shared. The host provides zero ammenties. (No soap, no electric kettle and no cuttlery whatsoever). Also, your room does not get cleaned by the owner throughout your stay. So be vary of the same. The event organizers had clearly told us that we need to collect the deposit one day prior as the minibus to Tirana was to leave at 6 AM. I unfortunately had to repeatedly follow up with her, after which she came fuming to our door and displayed utter abrasive behaviour. Its hard to believe that a small mirror and the fitting charges (Please refer to the attached image) would cost 120 Euros, but I nonetheless had to bear 50% of the cost for no fault of mine. The landlady kept taunting us and said that early checkouts are unheard of. To which my response was, if she was okay waking up at 4AM and giving me the remaining deposit, I would be okay with it. She said and I quote, "We have other jobs too". It was impossible to reason with this couple on any front. I would be reporting them to the festival authorities, but in the meanwhile my honest suggestion would be to avoid this place. Dhermi otherwise has some beautiful villas and accommodation. Except for this experience, we had a brilliant time in the village.
