I booked this hotel based on positive reviews and I was very disappointed. I had upgraded prior to arrival having read about inconsistent WiFi unless in deluxe rooms. I would not describe my room as deluxe at all compared to any other places I have stayed in in Sri Lanka for a lot less money per night. The room was dated, there were no tea making facilities (despite the listing saying a kettle) the mini bar was expensive. There was an overpowering strong smell in my room, I don’t know what it was but it gave me a headache, it may have been what they used to clean as other areas had the same smell but better ventilation. My shower would not stay fixed, the WiFi did not work well at all, there was no soundproofing and some guests were very loud. I was booked for 4 nights but stayed only one. I actually found somewhere significantly more luxurious for a lot less. The staff seemed confused I would want to leave, nevertheless they assisted me well and were very polite and helpful. The breakfast was nice and there is good choice, although would be nice to have a fruit plate and juice not either/or. The pool area is nice but small. It is on the main road which my room faced, it is difficult to cross safely to the beach. There is a 3% additional charge for paying by card which is not advertised in advance and payment is made upfront (I had paid before I even saw my room).
