We stayed for five nights for a mix of work and leisure. The hotel gives an initial poor impression; usually there is nobody at reception, and the corridors smell bad. The rooms are OK though; ours was large with a good work desk, good wardrobe and shelf space, and a fridge; but there was oddly a large space with no furniture, which seemed a waste! On the upside there is plenty of car parking, and although the location isn't great (on a very busy main road), the other hotels in Hatfield are in similar locations. The old town isn't far away, although not really walkable, and there is a little shop just around the corner. The worst thing about the hotel is the restaurant. The staff seemed to spent most of their time ducking out for a smoke, and generally the service was poor. We only had one evening meal there, for that reason. The breakfasts were OK, although only English food was available. It suited us, but may not suit others. The price was quite reasonable.
