My friend and I visited every evening for drinks on the terrace for the week that we stayed in Niederau. Lovely location and very friendly staff especially Arbenita who served us dressed in traditional Tyrolean costume. The hotel was beautifully decorated inside and out and we were made to feel very welcome. We had a steak dinner one evening followed by home made cake. All of the food and drinks were of exceptional quality, nicely presented and reasonably priced(see photos) A special mention to Jan Sterba the chef, Peter Zachar the sous chef and Daniel the Manager. Highly recommend this lovely hotel.

Charming hotel, friendly staff, clean rooms, with a nice and differing menu ever night. Convenience of the location, for the ski slopes, bus transport, bars, restaurants, ski hire and supermarket, made staying at this hotel a very easy decision. Should we visit the area again we would certainly be happy to stay at this hotel.

I usually base my reviews on what was expected and what it cost. I can't do that with this review as I had a rather unexpected stay after a less than pleasant experience elsewhere and was transferred by the holiday company. I went in with no preconceived ideas and this is what I found: I found all areas of this hotel to be spotlessly clean and has the most cheerful housekeeping lady I've ever met. She does a fabulous job and always greeted you with a big smile. The dining room was well laid out with plenty of room to move around between tables when going back and forth to the breakfast/buffet area. The food was perfectly fine in my opinion and on par with other similar establishments in Austria that I've stayed in. I went for either the chicken or vegetarian options in the evening and enjoyed them all. I can't comment on all rooms obviously but mine was well appointed and spacious. The bed was comfortable, I liked the seating area near the window and the balcony facing the town was lovely to sit out on and watch the world go by. My room was opposite the lift and at first I thought there could be noise issue from this but I never heard any noise from that or anywhere else, it was very quiet and peaceful. Above all, the staff were very kind to me which meant a lot after what had gone before elsewhere. I couldn't thank them enough.

What an amazing week ski holiday we had made even more special with the warm welcome we received here, nothing was too much trouble from house keeping to the chef, a quaint family run hotel. A lovely place perfectly positioned in the center of the resort. The food was fantastic, clean and cosy rooms. We will be returning.

Hotel offered sauna, steam and pool facilities. The owner switched off the sauna, steam facilities and then locked the door to prevent access. Why? "It cost too much, to run". When I mentioned reporting the matter to the Ingham resort rep she agreed to turn the sauna and steam rooms on. This did not take place the doors were then locked. Breakfast and evening meals. Previous comments highlight the same issues that took place on my trip. It became a standard joke from other guests what standard of food may be served. Like others I found myself eating out more and the Hexanhasl is fantastic. Rooms basic, old broken chair on the balcony. Dated woodchip wallpaper, cobweb and dust in the bathroom. I love Austria and skied various resorts since 2006. Sadly to say the owner, and the hotel was a very disappointing experience. I would certainly avoid this hotel. Upon my return home I contacted Ingham head office to raise my concerns. They were already aware of previous complaints for the same concerns being raised. So why are they still associated with this hotel, and taking bookings and not warning the customer? Poor customer service from Ingham. Niederau Fab location, great restaurants. Visit early season when you are able to ski back to the resort and use the lower level beginner area.

We had the best time at Hotel Austria. Great location, ski shop and bus stop right there. Food is good and filling after skiing. Eva looked after us so well at breakfast and always remembered my decaf tea and coffee. Arbeliita looked after so well and made the stay so much fun. Thank you so much ladies, you made the holiday magical for us.

I was really impressed with this hotel. Really friendly staff, comfortable clean rooms and a lovely traditional style about the place. The room I stayed in had a recently refurbished shower room and it was very clean. Food. I really enjoyed the breakfast and dinner - it was Buffet style but was always hot and tasty. I would definitely stay again. Other best bits include storage for your kit underneath, and it is directly opposite the gondola! Would definitely stay here again!

Stayed here Feb/March 2024. I’m Veggie and Husband a Vegan. Website claimed to cater for V, VG and GF dietary requirements so we upgraded our stay to Half Board. We were not catered for (DESPITE REQUEST THROUGH CRYSTAL ON BOOKING) and had to eat out most nights. Food in hotel is extremely basic – on a par with 70’s school canteen and seemingly all fruit and vegetables are out of a tin. ‘Noodle’s = penne pasta. No fresh fruit available at breakfast (satsumas only). Fellow guest asked for a boiled egg and was told this was not on offer. Thank goodness for Hexanhasl (great menu) and O’Malleys (pizza). Positives Location: very well-situated Hotel, with the Equipment room in the basement and a short walk across the road to Ski School meeting points, M1 Gondola, bars and the slopes. Bus stops right outside. This is one of the original hotels in the resort. Restaurant & hotel staff work very hard Washing line above shower useful for drying clothes Great double glazing keeps room warm and quiet (NB: bedroom door paper thin so could hear guests leaving 3am) Lovely balcony with chairs overlooking church and village Loads of storage in bedroom, hair dryer (dated) and shower gels dispensers in great size bathroom Offered dinner by lovely lady in Reception when we arrived late at night – declined as too tired (not sure what was on offer but likely not apt for veggies/vegans) Pool looks fantastic – didn’t try it. Also has Sauna – didn’t try but was told by fellow guests, you must book in time slot, so can be heated up (which didn’t happen for our friends, despite them booking) Plenty of sockets for electrics You sit at same table for duration of your stay, seated with other guests (was a positive for us as we had lovely people with us) Negatives The terrible food, lack of choice Extremely dated décor throughout room: long shaggy carpet – including up the walls where skirting board would be Shower nozzle (cracked – will break off imminently) positioned over bath taps, very low down – not ideal for washing hair and cannot help but bash into them every time causing bruising, shower screen broken. No kettle, cups, tea & coffee in room. Drinking glass in bathroom was dirty from previous glasses (replaced day 2) Dusty bedside lamps, dusty shower gel dispensers in bathroom Very old broken bed, cheap, thin, old pillows – terrible Was not given free bus pass until after checked out and waiting for transfer. Fellow guest told us about this (no information on what was included) and suggested we use it to do a round journey to Auffach and back (wonderful way to kill or to try other slopes etc) – make sure you ask for your passes though! Left room key and equipment locker scan card in room slot at Reception – don’t do this. Our Equipment Locker card went missing and had been opened (thankfully our snow boots or ski equipment hadn’t been taken – but we were told this is not first time). Would return to Niederau but not to Hotel Austria. Upgrade and refurbishment ove

Located in the centre of the village, on the Main Street, with bus stop virtually outside the door. Ski facilities are literally just across the road, and the ski/boot hire shop at the front of the hotel is accessible from within the basement. There's also a room for storing skis and boots with warming facilities. I had a third-floor room with balcony facing the village church; bells begin at 7am, but you'll only hear them if the window is open! The room, with double bed was comfortable, if basic, but remember that this is a 3-star hotel, so no issues on that front. It was cleaned, and the bed made each day. There's a small pool in the basement, also a sauna. It would n't take many people to make it seem busy, but it wasn't so during my stay. You may have to ask for additional towels or remember to bring them down from the room, as there aren't any to hand in the basement. Breakfast buffet has a good selection of continental-breakfast fare, with cereals, cold meat selection and a scrambled egg/bacon/sausage option as well; it's not extravagant, but more than adequate. I had a half-board option, so an (early) evening meal was included; this is a little limited in scope, but there are three courses, with three choices of main course, including a vegetarian option. Wine with your meal is going to be pricey, but a large Weissbier not. To sum up: clean, comfortable, with friendly and helpful staff, and I would be happy to stay here on my next trip to Niederau.
