The Dower House Hotel

We stayed here for our first wedding anniversary. We had stayed before and had a delightful experience, hence why we came again. We wish we could say the same this time around, but unfortunately this was not the case. We booked a junior suite with a double bed, although on our arrival we discovered that the “double bed” was simply two single beds pushed together. They were not even secured together with any clips or the like, as we have seen done elsewhere before. Far from ideal for a wedding anniversary I am sure all would agree!! The room itself was not well cleaned, with dust and cobwebs everywhere. We drew our situation to the attention of the receptionist when we checked out. The response was simply: “yeah, most of our rooms except two have only single beds”. No apology, no recognition of our upset, nothing. It was rude, cold and entirely uncalled for. Also, a weird policy to have so many rooms without double beds in this way?! All in all, completely unacceptable. This is especially bearing in mind we had specifically drawn the reason for our visit to the attention of staff when booking. We also asked when booking if we could have some information about what the hotel could offer in light of the occasion; again, no response whatsoever. Credit must, however, go to the breakfast staff. Breakfast was lovely and the staff acknowledged we had made a booking for our anniversary. We decided not to eat at the restaurant, it was extortionately expensive and a limited menu. We wonder if things have changed since Woodhall Spa lost their 40’s festival. Comparing our most recent stay with the previous stay, now Dower House seem to have lost all sense of pride in what they do. A real shame as there is so much to like and enjoy about the area… Woodhall Spa is a lovely place and we will be back there, although Dower House will be far from our first choice.

Well run hotel staff friendly. Clean and tidy hotel. comfy bed great bath room. Great food nice grounds close to the golf club and town.

Stayed for one night on a business trip! Comfortable room in the lodge on the second floor. Clean and well presented. Went for a run along the Viking Way, which runs alongside the hotel accessible via the garden path. Highly recommended this run or walk. Ate in the garden as it was a beautiful night. As a vegetarian, I couldn’t have been happier! The meal was superb! I shall be a regular!

This was our first stay at the Dower House and we can't recommend it highly enough. We stayed in the Lodge and the room was spacious, beautifully decorated and comfortable. All the staff were extremely helpful and the breakfast and dinner were excellent. Well done all of you!

This review is regarding the restaurant just have to say what a amazing meal we had this chef really knows his stuff sourcing local and the cooking of the produce out of this world will definitely be back to try the other dishes on show at last somewhere other than pizza

Me and my wife decided to book this venue for our wedding as we fell in love with this venue the moment we walked in about 2 years ago. This venue has everything and more anybody could wish for, the food is amazing, the area in itself is amazing, Max the wedding coordinator is by far the greatest person I have ever met. He made the last few days easy for me and my missus. His planning and organising skills are a cut above everything. But not just him his team who I dealt with most, starting with Jennifer she is a unique young women and has a lot to offer and she made every effort to make sure we were always happy and content, Ethan what a guy never once stood still door a lot of running for me and he never once complained. The energy they all had was crazy, give them all a big pay rise because without these people I don't think mine and my wife's wedding wouldn't have gone so smoothly without them. Diana I've saved you to last becuase from the moment we walked in nearly 2 years ago till now you always made effort to come speak to us and have a conversation and gace us some great advice along the way. Use people i mentioned will always hold a place in my heart, The rooms are beautiful always cleaned to high quality, and very spacious, This hotel is outstanding. Not one of my guest complained about anything and they are some picky people. Great service great people great atmosphere. Well done guys and thank you so much
