Craft Inn Te is a beautifully restored building in a small town known for its craft traditions. We stayed in the Indigo suite, which is on two floors, with a set of triple futons upstairs (one can be moved downstairs if needed). The ground floor has a tatami room, a bathroom with a cedar tub, and a view of a small garden that is exceedingly pleasant and restful. Every item in the Inn has been carefully curated, from the wall hangings and hangers to the bottle openers, glasses, and tea cups. The owner has been involved in the restoration of the town and the information booklet that welcomes each guest is full of information about the building and the town, including where to eat and what to visit. The town is walkable, there is a simple Shinto shrine meters away, and lots of tiny shops and crafts to explore, with local guides that the Inn can direct you to. This is accommodation most suitable for adults who are self-sufficient and not expecting any kind of nightlife! But if homemade soba, teashops, and handmade fabrics are of interest, it is a very lovely place to be.
