Hocus Pocus Tiny Hotel

My husband and I stayed here for two nights in the Soceryum. The room is really cool and themed brilliantly . It’s dark but not creepy. Everything was nice and clean , there was a selection of hot drinks, tea, coffee, hot chocolate . We prebooked a cake and Prosecco which was ready for us on our arrival with a beautiful hand written note wishing us a happy anniversary, and some fresh flowers. The room was very easy to warm and comfortable . The house is old so sound travels and there’s also a rowdy bar and restaurant right outside, so beware if you’re sensitive to noise. The hotel owner very kindly provided two pairs of ear plugs (without requesting) so I was more than happy. The only issue we had is some guests got our door code by accident and walked in on us. The owner messaged within 15 minutes to apologise and provide a new code so it was sorted quickly and no harm done.

Loved this quirky hotel. Stayed here for one night with my daughter and two friends . We stayed in the Itinerandum room, which is based on a train carriage. This room sleeps four with a double bed and bunk beds . Although the rooms are small as the name suggests still plenty of room for all four of us with a good-sized bathroom. The decor throughout the hotel and room is fantastic. we particularly liked the spooky pictures that changed when you walked past. Arrival was easy with a code for the front door and one for your room, also tea and coffee in the room . The location is great, located right near The Shambles . Would definitely stay here again.

Just returned from a 1 night stay in the Principium Magicae room at the Hocus Pocus Tiny Hotel. From the moment you step inside you are transported into a world of magic and mystery. My partner had secretly booked the 'Marry Me' package and it was just perfect for the occasion. Beautifully prepared with roses, prosecco and strawberries..so romantic. The decor really captured the feel of being in a medieval castle. The location is perfect for accessing all of York's amazing attractions and for parking too. A truly memorable stay.

Located next to the best bar anywhere, Valhalla York, is an immediate bonus for this brilliant little lodging. Its location in the centre of York right next to the Shambles is superb anyway and that’s not the only superb factor. Themed as a spooky witch house the decor and ambience is perfect for fans of the supernatural or anyone who prefers something a little different. With only 5 rooms and no reception or public facilities I’m not sure hotel is the right description but this shouldn’t put anyone off. The rooms are well appointed, clean and comfortable with TV, WIFI and modern bathrooms. We had The Sorceryum with a large King size bed and whilst the room was compact it didn’t feel too cramped at all. I will mention 2 negatives hence the 4 rather than 5 stars, but I will state that the owners are up front about these so were expected. The staircase to reach upper floors is difficult and very narrow so don’t bring huge suitcases. If, like me, you walk with a stick then it’s a slow climb, but ultimately worth it. The second slight negative is the nighttime noise due to the close proximity of a couple of bars/clubs, open till 4 am when we visited, but again we knew about this in advance and in reality it wasn’t enough to stop us sleeping. Ear plugs are provided in the room but we didn’t really need them. Overall a great experience for a couple of nights and one which we thoroughly enjoyed.

What a truly amazing little hotel this is!! Once you enter through the front door you feel like you’re in a mystical, fantasy world which gets even better once you’re in the room. We stayed in the very atmospheric apothecary room at the top of the building. Not the easiest room to access but once you’re in there… just wow!! The hotels location right in the centre of York just off the shambles makes it convenient for all the fabulous shops and tourist attractions. it’s not the quietest place to stay, Valhalla bar next door and the street cleaners out early morning, but this didn’t spoil our stay in the hotel at all. This was an unforgettable experience, well worth the money we paid for it, and one which we would like to repeat when we visit this wonderful city again.

This was the absolute best stay, the hotel was fabulous and we got a tour of all the rooms which was really special! The hotel is so central and we experienced no issues with noise at all, although my daughter was very impressed with the free earplugs anyway! We will absolutely be back.
