Badaling is absolutely worth the trip. Standing on the Great Wall and watching it wind across the mountains is one of those moments that stays with you, and the views are breathtaking in every direction. That said, it's more demanding than it looks. The steps are steep, uneven and sometimes very high, so you'll need decent stamina and good shoes. My best tip: take the cable car. It brings you straight up to the highest section, and that's where the scenery is at its most impressive. You save your energy for the climb down and for walking along the wall itself, which is the part you really want to enjoy. It made a huge difference for us, and I'd recommend it to anyone, especially if you're traveling with family or don't want to arrive at the top already exhausted.Bring water, start early to avoid the crowds, and take your time. Truly unforgettable.
