Signalling system fault impacts routes between Gatwick Airport and Purley

    Période:Du Mardi 24 février 2026 au Mardi 24 février 2026
    Opérateurs:Gatwick Express,Southern,Thameslink
Informations complémentaires:A train hitting an obstruction on the line in the Salfords area means that the line towards Purley is blocked. As a result, trains running to / from and through Gatwick Airport may be cancelled, delayed by up to 40 minutes or revised. Disruption is expected until 10:00. Gatwick Express / Southern / Thameslink customer advice: If you are travelling between Gatwick Airport and Purley, your journey may take up to 15 minutes longer than usual. Some trains may call at different platforms than expected, at short notice. Thameslink trains which usually run between Three Bridges and Bedford will be suspended until further notice. Alternative Thameslink services between Brighton and Bedford are available. If you're waiting on a train which is delayed between stations: If your train is delayed between stations, please remain where you are and listen to announcements, or speak to staff for further information. Operators will get you moving as soon as possible. They are aware of your location, and teams will be doing everything they can to help you continue your journey. Please don't leave the train unless you are asked to do so. Other trains may still be moving in the area, and the track is also a very hazardous environment. In areas where the trains are powered by an electric third rail, this usually stays live and dangerous during incidents and looks the same as other rails. Operators are doing all that they can to get our services moving once again, and understand that sitting on a stationary train is frustrating; however, they do ask passengers to remain inside the train and under no circumstances attempt to self-evacuate. This happens all too often and will only delay you further, as well as pose a significant risk of danger due to the electrified rail, oncoming trains, and trackside objects. Timely updates will be provided and operators are working to get you on the move as soon as possible Planning your journey: To help you plan your journey, you can find our alternative route maps on the website. Please check journey planners and station information boards before you travel and allow extra time to reach your destination. You can view live departure boards, and you can check a live map to see if your journey has been affected. You can also use the Southern app to find up-to-date travel information. Can you tell me more about the incident? There has been a report of a train hitting an obstruction on the railway, which has come to a stand blocking one of the available lines between gatwick Airport and Purley. Trains through the area can continue to travel using the remaining available lines, however, services may be subject to delays as they begin to queue to pass through the area.
