I recently had the pleasure of staying at a youth hostel that truly stood out for its exceptional qualities. Nestled in a residential area, its location was incredibly convenient, offering a tranquil retreat just a bike ride away from the city center—less than 10 minutes to be exact. This made for peaceful nights, ensuring a restful sleep in a safe environment. The hostel is run by a delightful couple whose hospitality knew no bounds. They were not only eager to assist with any issues that arose but also went above and beyond by providing bicycles. This thoughtful touch significantly enhanced my mobility around Houston, allowing me to reach various destinations swiftly. What set this hostel apart was the attention to detail and the array of complimentary amenities, including cookies, milk, cereal, coffee, and tea. The cleanliness and smart technology throughout the house contributed to a seamless stay, making it the best hostel experience I've ever had. The bathroom towels folded into swan shapes were a testament to the owners' dedication to detail, adding a touch of elegance and care. The warmth of the place was akin to being at home, with the owners always ready for a chat, eager to answer questions, and share their stories and experiences. A highlight for me was the world map on the living room wall, where guests could pin their home countries—a fun and interactive way to connect with fellow travelers. In summary, this hostel was more than just a place to stay; it felt like a home, or perhaps more accurately, a homestay. It's undoubtedly the best hostel I've ever stayed in globally, blending the comfort of a home with the adventurous spirit of a hostel.

Le gestionnaire m'a payé 5 $. Pas un grand rabais, mais tout aide. La chambre était très propre, bien qu'elle avait un odeur de blanchisseur. Beaucoup de contractants et leurs familles restent à l'hôtel et parlent devant notre porte jusqu'à la fin et au début de l'après-midi.

This was the cleanest and nicest experience I have ever had at a budget motel. The staff was really nice. It was a very busy weekend for the town (George Strait) and I don't think they were used to being fully booked up on one night and having to turn over the entire hotel for the next night being booked up with new guests. We arrived a little after check out and they didn't have a room quite ready yet, but we didn't have to wait long and they were very nice and apologetic about it. The property has clearly been renovated recently and was very clean. I share the same complaint as other reviews regarding the shower not having a door, curtain, or lip to catch the water and heat. We just kept the door shut and put a towel down and it wasn't that big of a deal, but definitely a design flaw. The door into the room also had some fitting issues. There were clear gaps. Luckily, this didn't cause any safety, noise, or temperature control issues, but again this was a clear design / fitting issue. Loved that they had a Firestick TV in the room and I was able to sign into my streaming services, because who watches live TV anymore? JK JK. We were right next to the highway, so you could hear cars passing by. If you like white noise while sleeping, this is a great substitute, but if you need dead quite, they offer free earplugs at the desk! The bed was not the best, but all-in-all this was a good place to hang your hat and call home for a night.

Il est très bon de voir le bar et le restaurant ouverts. La chambre était très belle, mais la chambre était décevante. L'écart autour de la porte n'a guère permis au bout de serrure de prendre. Il a également permis une grande quantité de lumière dans la chambre. Le lit ou la chambre se penchait, et le pied du lit était plus haut que le pied du lit. La madrague, et je l'utilise sans doute, me sentait aussi vieux que moi. Je me rappelais les lits de pierre dans la tuyau de ma grand-mère, car il vous a fait rouler au milieu du lit. La douche dans le vieux tube de pied de la cloche a pulvérisé de l'eau sur la cour sur un livre qui était suspendu sur le mur et a suélé les quelques articles que nous avions placés là. La chambre a été très bien équipée pour nettoyer l'eau sur le sol. J'espère que les propriétaires prendront le temps de noter les petites choses qui rendent plaisir de rester dans une propriété plus ancienne.

Vous obtenez ce que vous payez. Le bâtiment est vieux avec des cracs et des traces et des larmes. Le cadre de ma porte semblait avoir été jeté par quelqu'un à un moment. La télévision a travaillé pour me laisser voir au moins un tube, mais a fermé à 11h30. Il n'y avait pas de blessures mais j'ai trouvé un spider juste avant de quitter la chambre d'hôtel le jour de mon check-out. Il est situé près de la plage et à environ 15 minutes à pied du lexignton et de l'aquarium d'État. Je dirai que l'ac fonctionnait très bien et j'ai dû le mettre en place pour éviter de se congeler à la mort, bien qu'il ait arrêté chaque fois que ça semblait que quelqu'un essayait d'entrer dans ma chambre. Les bâtiments semblent également être hors du centre en raison de l'âge. Ils développent la zone, de sorte que les propriétaires la vendront peut-être une fois le prix du terrain augmente.

Worked for what I needed it for. No frills.

One of the best locations on all of South Padre. The door of my room was literally only steps away from the beach with parking just as close. This made coming and going very easy with no elevators or long walks to the parking area. On the down side, there were people out on the shared front deck until midnight several nights in a row. They were not excessively noisy but they did have music playing the entire time. Could have done without that but it was not enough to keep me from enjoying my stay. If peace and solitude is what you need, probably should consider staying somewhere else. Otherwise, this is an ideal location at a very reasonable price. Did not visit the bar and there was no food service available at the time of my stay.
