AMAZING! The camp is a quick drive from the airstrip, and animals were seen along the way. The check in process was so smooth and because of our early arrival, breakfast was waiting for us. The camp is so beautiful and so much fun to walk through. With some late nights and early mornings, we had escorts with flash lights to help us when the sun was down. We were warned that with their completely-green electricity, it might take a minute for the showers to get warm — but that was not an issue! It took no time at all & was actually a little too hot at first! The food was incredible. We had to tell Chef Joshua to offer some lighter meals because we were stuffing ourselves, it was so good - we could not stop eating! We were the only people in the camp, so meals were made and plated specifically for us. The chef did say if there were larger groups, he would place a buffet for everyone. The staff was amazing. Even though we were the only visitors at the time, we never felt like we had too much attention on us from the staff — or that we were being a bother. Some afternoons, we moved polepole (slowly) & napped to prepare for the evening game drives. It was a wonderful balance to make us feel taken care of while providing space. Our host Moses coordinated us to have to lunch outside in the yard one day, had dinner by the fire on a chilly night, and our last night consisted of breakfast in the bush beside the River Mara (where we watched hippos lounging!) & a romantic dinner inside our room with the fireplace. Moses and the staff took the liberty to surprise us with the fireside dinners and lunch in the yard! This truly shows how thoughtful they are to go above and beyond to make this trip special. We requested champagne on our last evening game drive, and our drivers celebrated with us by drinking Coke & Sprite. We were able to munch on delicious light bites and take lots of pictures with our hosts, & learn so much about the area and the drivers themselves. Our game drivers, Patrick & Clifford, were perfect - they are so knowledgeable about the animals and the area. It’s completely understandable that these wild animals can be difficult to spot - but the drivers know where animals tend to frequent, their hunting schedule, and even their history (we learned about Kisaru the cheetah), which gives them a good idea on where they are likely to be seen. I casually asked if we might be lucky to find the lion cubs, and our very last drive we were able to find them! They also educated us on biology of the animals and even the process to become a game driver in the Mara. We took a hot air balloon ride, visited a Maasai Village, learned how to throw spears & shoot arrows, visited the conservation where the southern white rhinos live, and soaked in all the beauty the Maasai Mara has to offer. It was the best honeymoon ever. The General Manager Shadrack was so pleasant, made sure our many questions were answered via email before even arriving, and checked on
