The Glendevon Hotel

We chose the Glendevon Hotel as an overnight stay as we were in the area for afternoon tea at Gleneagles. We had the warmest of welcomes and our room was excellent. Very modern with traditional and contemporary touches, spotlessly clean and had a great bathroom. The most minor of quibbles was the lack of a mirror in the bedroom itself for hairdrying. Customer service was above and beyond. The chap who welcomed us dropped everything he was doing to give us a lift to the Gleneagles Hotel, when we asked about taxis. That was really appreciated. Downstairs is a busy, bustling local bar and full of friendly folk. We enjoyed our nightcaps in there. Breakfast was included and it was fine Scottish breakfast fare - I recommend the square sausage and fried egg role if you don’t want the full breakfast This is a great base for activities around Auchterarder and we will happily go back again - that way we can try out the curries for which the kitchen is famed.

For an establishment that is decked out beautifully, and very welcoming, the bar staff were far from that. Several tables around us got shouted at by one of the bar staff, who was trying to clean tables whilst people were sat there. This was at 9pm for a midnight closing! She was extremely rude and unfriendly throughout our visit, which made the entire time we were there unpleasant and depressing. The karaoke person was lovely and continued to apologize for her behavior.

The restaurant serves disgusting food! We went out to a place that apparently was good for serving good meals. However, the place should not have a restaurant open and we hope that the customers from the hotel get better dinner and breakfast to what we had.

Full disclosure - I was attending an event at Gleneagles, which is the other end of the price spectrum. The (twin) bed at the Glendevon was easily as comfortable, the room temperature was more controllable, and there was a hot chocolate sachet at the Gendevon! Nice big shower, very clean, great bacon roll (full available if wanted) and coco pops for breakfast, very welcoming staff. The parking out back isn't the last word in glamour and as other guests have noted you get to the rooms via the bar but I didn't have any noise issues. Thank you for looking after me.

My 7 year old and I stayed mid week as we had a wedding nearby. We had a double room and breakfast. The hotel was lovely, we found the room more than adequate for our stay. The bed was lovely and comfy. The en-suite bathroom was spotless and the tea and coffee facilities were a lovely touch. We were welcomed in to the hotel and shown to our rooms. We had asked the hotel to book taxis but unfortunately no taxis were available therefore we were given a lift courtesy of one of the employees. We were so grateful as it was looking at though we were going to be late for the wedding! Breakfast was served between 7.30-8.30am which was really early but it was midweek. Breakfast included cereals, yoghurts, rolls and a cooked breakfast. I opted for the breakfast which was cooked quickly and really tasty. The staff are polite and helpful. Overall a really nice stay at this hotel. Thank you for making us feel welcome

Was thinking of booking for dinner but thought we would try a lunch, bombay club sandwich expensive, 10.95,cheap bread and had much better club sandwiches, wife's tarka Dahl runny and tiny portion and her naan... tiny, and expensive. Glad we didnt book for dinner, won't ever be back, and where else in the world do you pay for drinks and food separately?

The best lamb rogan josh I've ever had . Friendly staff. Lovely room . Great price and breakfast too. Brilliant . Highly recommended and would definitely return. Great place to start your. Scotland adventure

The location is good for our purposes, but struggle to park there at times. Have stayed here 4 or 5 times, and this was not our best visit this time, I’m afraid to say. We waited a good 15 minutes to check in as serving drinks to diners was a priority. we had to ask again to check-in, as we were attending a birthday party and had to go then. There was a major issue with our shower in room 8, meaning we could not use it, as the control was broken, and we could only get scalding water. When we told a female staff member when we were checking out she seemed rather unconcerned, stating the Manager was not there. We were stating that we hadn’t been able to have showers, and she was more interested in getting the key back. Slight issue with breakfast order, but this was corrected. The hotel is becoming quite run down – lots of dust in room and on staircase. Think we shall be looking at airB&Bs now.

Comfortable room, good quality en-suite shower. Good wardrobe space. Tv, tea, and biscuits. Above a restaurant and bar. "Reception" is at the bar. The constant door banging and noise from other rooms was a problem. What a shame. Ideal location for the high street. The "One Hour" time slot for breakfast is another issue. 07.30 week days, 08.30 weekends.
