I enjoyed a most pleasant stopover in this beautiful old hotel, occupying a King Room with views into the town and over to the picturesque hills beyond. The room was spacious and warm with a period style decor and furnishing reminiscent of days of elegance, the heavy drapes and sash windows adding to a soothing atmosphere of timelessness... The bed was large and comfortable and at my request, I was given a room with a bath. The staff were welcoming, helpful and competent and I was supplied with a delicious breakfast the following morning. I highly recommend a stay at the George Hotel, I look forward to my next visit...

Two couples stayed for one night Sat3rd /Sunday4th .Delightful stay . Lovely greeting from young girl on arrival ( didn’t catch name ) .And good service for rest of day from her .Rooms were comfortable and good temperature .Drinks and biscuits and toiletries a nice touch .Beautiful meal in the evening with good service and great breakfast next day .Free Carpark .Hotel is very old and has uneven floors and lots of quirky features with lovely decor .Would thoroughly recommend this hotel .

The rooms are tired. Bed too big for the room so had to squeeze past the tv to get to the bathroom. Smoke alarm was flashing the whole night so didn't get a good nights sleep. Breakfast was average at best. Limited parking so I had to pay extra in town.I travel all the time for work so stay at loads of hotels and it would be hard to recommend this one to anyone.

We couldn't fault our one night stay at The George Hotel. Very welcoming on arrival, the room was spacious and nicely furnished, lovely and clean, good quality towels and bedding. Breakfast was also excellent. Very good value too. The bar area was warm and cosy and the staff were friendly and helpful recommending places to visit.

We've just returned from The George having spent the weekend there with a group of friends. Everything went well, James, Mollie and the team did a great job and we've already booked another trip for next Autumn.

Lovely hotel - rooms very nicely done . Food in the bar good and breakfast was nicely served with plenty of choice. Parking easy and well-situated. Only downside was poor sleep because of loud and frequent noise out on the street - but not the hotel’s fault at all.

Brilliant atmosphere as always at the george last night went to a ghost experience Steve was fantastic and so was nikki and Kevin showing us how the paranormal works and was such a good night.Hope do more in the future and was nice that the george let this happen Tommy and James are great at the george and they got amazing staff and all the food is amazing would recommend staying here if just for a short break or for business

Just excellent! We visited here a week or so ago whilst down in Devon and were not disappointed. The food was great along with the service and we would definitely visit again! Family friendly, we shared one of their sharing boards and were not let down!

Great value for money and the staff is lovely - especially James. Breakfast was excellent (though the French press coffee tended to let some coffee grains through). Sunday roast was excellent. Cute comfy rooms with strong water pressure. I didn’t love the pillows but my partner did! Great gem of a hotel!
