Ayr Traveller's Motel

One night stop for work, arrived late but restaurant was still open. Food was very good for a small place and prices reasonable. Room was spacious and quiet with clean amenities. Toilet seat was broken. Bed comfy and check in wad easy, plenty off street parking. Easy walk to town.

We stayed a Saturday night in the 2 bedroom apartment. Very clean apartment, warm and helpful welcome, good restaurant, enjoyed our stay and appreciated the coffee machine, twinings teas, milo, bottles of water. Lots of parking. Ayr is very quiet on weekends with most businesses closed.

Our family went for a meal at their restaurant Burnt Sugar. The service was the worst part. We ordered our meals and did not see the staff again. One empty plate was removed and I had to clear the rest myself. We bought more drinks and had to get them our selves while 3 staff chatted. For what was charged the food was not much better than cheap pub food.

Nice quiet motel with large rooms. Ample parking in quiet location, even though it is the main road through town. The bed was soft, the room was spotlessly clean and I would happily stay here again. Restaurant and coffee shop on site. Regretfully did not have a chance to try due to our late arrival and early departure.

I recently stayed at this property while travelling for business. The rooms are set up nicely with a work station and modern amenities. The bed was super comfortable and I slept really well. The hotel also has a restaurant, I didn't try it, but it's there if you need it or a drink. Even though the property appeared to be full the night I stayed there was very little noise for being on one of the main streets in town. Highly recommended, I'll stay here again if I'm in the area.

Disappointing stay. Rooms were noisy, especially at night. Could clearly hear people walking around in the rooms above and a tiled internal hallway that dissects ground floor accommodation creates an echo chamber effect. Some rooms were below par with timber veneer surfaces 'bubbling', towel rails that fall off the wall (a known and long-term issue, according to motel management), and a musty smell present. 'Real' glasses, china and cutlery replaced by paper cups and bamboo plates and cutlery due to COVID concerns, according to a note left in the rooms. COVID has been under control for quite a while, so continuing to provide low quality disposables possibly has more to do with saving money (less housekeeping) than mitigating health risks. At $175 a night, the overall standard didn't match the price point. Restaurant food and service were poor. Our group was served five meals that were not up to scratch. Polite feedback was ignored by wait staff with no attempt made to remedy the situation. Elsewhere in these reviews, you will see motel management responding to negative feedback by claiming they would have fixed things, if only they'd been told at the time. Well, despite telling management about five unsatisfactory meals that included some expensive dishes, management advised the poor quality was due to the chef being temporarily replaced by a backpacker! Shame we weren't made aware of that before we ordered. There was no attempt by management to make good a poor experience. Running a motel and dealing with the public are demanding. I get that. But on this occasion, this property and its team didn't meet reasonable expectations, in my opinion.

Great dinner in a hidden little gem in Ayr. Don’t miss the friendly service and great seafood chowder. Worth a detour! Nice big and clean rooms. This town is small and lovely and the motel is a great place staying at especially if you are looking for a great dinner too.

Didn’t stay here but ate at the burnt sugar restaurant, ordinary at best extremely over priced for the quality of the food. Fillet steak ordered blue came out medium rare gravy accompanying equivalent amount of an egg cup, chicken Wellington extremely dry! and pastry burnt. Two waitresses obviously under pressure as also servicing room service, main course came out the minute the last mouthful of the entree was consumed. Far better place to eat in Ayr at lower prices offering far fresher better quality of food and service. Wouldn’t return.
