We stayed two nights in the Slieve Russell. It was our first time at the hotel, upon arrival the aesthetics were beautiful, however the poor service and hospitality was a major let down. We booked our dinner in the Summit restaurant both evenings. Whilst the waitress was very pleasant the first evening (Thursday) it was very under staffed, with a long wait if you wanted to have dessert so we refrained. On the second night I and my family have never experienced service like it, it was so poor. I know not every request can be accommodated however I do not expect to be met with a bad attitude for even making a request. We were seated under the air conditioning, we had a two year old and my father who had a heart condition and due to medication feels cold all the time, my husband asked very politely, would it be possible if we moved to another table of four. The waitress said abruptly - no we are fully booked. At this point there were two tables of four free by the window, my husband then asked if we could do a swap, this caused great annoyance and she abruptly said we are fully booked, he then asked very nicely, would it be ok if we could have the air conditioning off, we got a yes but very abrupt, the table of four that was by the window was then occupied twenty minutes later by two people. The waitress then proceeded to ignore us, and sent a male server to get our order ( we were the only ones in the area served by the male, and we could tell by her face each time she passed us she was angry) we then saw her talk to her manager as we could see her pointing over to us- I'm astounded at her attitude as not once were we rude. After dinner my husband went to pay, and he gave her the money and she gave him the change all in small coins ( I know this happens, but it is usually met with, I'm sorry we have no notes, we got the feeling she did it on purpose as we seemed to annoy her with a simple request) We left the summit restaurant and went to the bar, the bar manager was the server and we asked could we get a dish of ice cream for our 2 year old, to another abrupt no, dinner service finished 30 minutes ago, again understandable but the unfriendly attitude after having such a bad experience in the summit restaurant was just the icing on the cake. So disappointed with the service as the facilities and the pool were fantastic. I did submit my review to the hotel and they asked for further feedback and I did give it however no further acknowledgement or thank you for getting back to them- very disappointing
