Rokpa Guest House

The guesthouse is an excellent place for exploring Boudhanath and the surrounding streets and monasteries. The room was clean with a hot shower, and the bed was the most comfortable we experienced in our trip to Nepal! Kathmandu is a loud city, and the airport is nearby, so you might need to bring ear plugs for sleeping. The garden outside is well maintained and the perfect place for lunch, or a delicious cake in a calm environment. The guesthouse offers a training environment for young people, and all of the staff were exceptionally professional, helpful and attentive. There's also a giftshop selling craft items from the ROKPA Women's Workshop which is definitely worth checking out. Overall, our stay was amazing and we wish we could have stayed longer!

I stayed here for a night whilst visiting the religious sites nearby. The location was perfectly settled near the large stupa, however off the main road so cultivated a calm and quiet space. The breakfast provided a great selection of local and western cuisine. I would highly recommend staying here.

Rokpa is absolutely one of the most special places on earth. There is something so good and charming about the energy there and the earnestness of their staff, and the guesthouse's central courtyard is pure oasis in the heart of frantic Kathmandu. Also, I had some of my best lunches and dinners here. I highly recommend the thali set, the spicy tofu nuggets, and the kung pao chicken.

I had a fantastic stay in the Rokpa guest house, and only wish that I had more time there. The staff are incredibly kind and hospitable, and it was a welcome oasis from the noise and bustle of the more touristy parts of Kathmandu. The views and comfort of the Stupa suite are fantastic if you are able to book it, with a private patio, and plenty of space. The restaurant was also delicious!

This accommodation is highly recommended. It is located in the beautiful area near the boudhanath stupa. The accommodation belongs to a Swiss organization that takes care of street children. A part of the accommodation fee goes to the organization. Very good food.

Last September and October, my partner and I spent over two weeks at Rokpa Guesthouse. Our original plan was to quickly head to the Mountains, but due to health issues, we had to change our plans. Thankfully, the manager Kanchan went above and beyond to take care of us during our stay, ensuring that we felt at home and were able to recover quickly. The rest of the staff was equally as lovely, regularly checking in on us and even preparing special meals for us. We highly recommend this beautiful guesthouse in Kathmandu. After our time in the mountains, we returned to Rokpa during the Tihar festival, and it was a truly special experience to celebrate it together with the staff and other guests. The rooms are absolutely delightful! They are spacious with a nice and clean bathroom, including a hot and satisfying shower. The surroundings are incredibly peaceful at night, allowing for a great night's sleep. The food at the hotel's restaurant is also fantastic! Everything is prepared with high hygiene standards. We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Kanchan, all the staff members, and the lovely grandfather. You all hold a special place in our hearts, and we hope to see you again soon!

This was my final stop in Kathmandu and definetly the most luxury one! Lovely peaceful oasis in Boudha, excellent cafe/restaurant! some of the best food I had on my trip. I ate most of my meals here for 3 days and it was consistantly excellent, great service and friendly, helpful staff. The room was a bit dark, but I spent most of my time outside anyway, the shower was hot, comfy bed, there was a kettle and hairdryer in the room (!!) and the wifi was very good. I was really happy staying here for my last 4 nights and would love to go back again one day. Thank you!

Kanchan, the managing director, is a humble, smart & gracious guy who really went the extra mile for a few travel issues we had en route to Namche Bazzar, where we're volunteering for the month. Background; Traveled in a dozen or so Asian & South American countries, volunteering in a few of these places. A good friend is faculty at an American med school for more than 20 years. He works as a pediatrician & in international medicine. When in KTM a few times a year, he stays at Rokpa. When we go thru KTM next year, we will stay at Rokpa.
