The Merlin Hotel

We stayed for one night was booked for 3 but my dog became ill and we had to go home to say our goodbyes I honestly can’t fault the staff they gave my little girl a gift bag of goodies and was amazing the room was really clean we was beyond impressed with our towels and shower gels and mini soap there was tea making facilities and cups the only downside I can say about the room was there wasn’t plugs close to my bed but to be honest for £27 a night it was amazing and well worth what I have spent

never go here, not worth the money bed was broke and stains all over meant to have a on suite bathroom had a curtain for a door and blood smears in the sink it was a state we had no heating and the hotel stunk ded loud got a tele in our room bu no remote the door looked like it was gonna blow over the whole place was a state and it looked like a hostile

Don't come to this hotel, it's horrible. Bad smell, a lot of noise, dirty, beds in poor condition. I'm disappointed . There is a pub downstair, lots of noise, people shouting. It's true that the prices are cheap, but it's not worth coming here.

So disappointing! Went last year, an although not the best hotel by any means, at least it was clean and staff was helpful and polite. Just been with my wife and 2 children and it was horrendous. New management haven't got a clue! Rooms smell damp, towels not clean, tv got no aerial good job we took firestick. Staff arguing till early hours, in and out of hotel, shouting down corridors. Smoking ****, my wife was awake all night the 1st night and from 4am on the last night. Avoid like the plague! Told him about keeping us up and he said welcome to the Merlin Hotel. Needs shutting down!

Where to start I wasn’t actually booked in this hotel it was my mum dad and my daughter for 2 nights on the first night my mum video called me to show me the room it was very basic and is in need of a face lift but she wasn’t to impressed with the bedding it had a few stains here and there and hairs in it so she decided to sleep out of the bedding on the first night only to wake up with what looks like bug bites this concerned me because my daughter was staying there as well so I took it upon myself to go to the hotel and see the manager before I even got through the door a lady outside. Advised me not to stay there as she Had bites too it was hard to tell the staff from the guests maybe a uniform could be something to think About anyway when I did get to speak to the manager I explained my mum and dad were staying there and told him about the issues my mum had and how she had woke up covered in bites he did tell me he has had it fumigated, but to me, this hasn’t worked I couldn’t fault the service of the manager who let me go to my mum‘s room with him and my partner and he literally *****ped the room infront of us to put my mind at ease I could not see any bugs in the room however I did see what I thought was bug faeces on the seam of the mattress but the manager said it was just dirt he even checked the toilet rolls i really could not fault his service I was satisfied I could not see any bugs at the time I spent in the room the manager proceeded to put clean bedding on for my mum and dad what I was very grateful for all in all I was satisfied with the service the manager provided but me personally wouldn’t stay here just off my mums experience

The pillows were the fluffiest i have ever felt but........ I thought somebody had left ufc on the tv until i went toilet which was separate to the room!. I was welcomed by what i can only describe as an every man,woman, non woman/men dog... yes there was hooch free as the night running around leaving excrement on the stairs... *** is going on here well from 2 until 6 in the morning this went on for until the police played rock,paper,scissors as to who comes in and arrests people. loads of screaming not sure if in a good way or not!! Apart from that would be 5 stars bar open all night so people can get bang at it. Would stay again yes if i had a crowbar placed under the bed

Owfull filthy room. Must ask about clean pillow cases for my kids because was dirty then menager was rude.TV wasn't work at all. Hairs everywhere in shower,sink,bed. Big whole in wall. If not our circumstances because my son birthday and we been late. Never again in that place. Really stay absolutely away.

I stayed here in 2021 and the improvement since then is outstanding. The new managers are friendly and accommodating, helped with bags and anything we needed. Undergoing work at the moment and modernisation. Reasonable prices and good quality rooms too! Would definitely stay again. Perfect location to town centre too.

kev and Karla manage it great anything as nylon we wanted they were there to help nothing was to muc he for them nice people can't wait to go again and have been recommending the place as a great stay
