Atlantic Inn

Friends told us that the Atlantic Inn had new owners and we were so excited to see the new updates. We had a handful of couples and friends for Labor Day weekend at the Inn and were blown away by not only the Inn but the restaurant as well. Dinner on the porch two nights in a row and we couldn't get through all the wishes on the menu. Kelly was the best server! Views from the lawn are 100% and our room #19 had stunning views, most comfortable bed and linens and chic aesthetics. Can't wait to come back again!

Thank you to the new owners for renovating the island gem. My family of eight had an wonderful experiencing dining at the Atlantic last week. We love the changes made to the interior dining space and the bar. The entire staff were great but I have to say that our server Kelly was outstanding. The new menu is great and our meal from 1st course to dessert was a ten on a scale of 1-10. We LOVED our meal and our experience at the AI. Can't wait until next summer.

I can't say enough good things about our stay here. The staff went above and beyond - knowledgeable, hospitable, and generous! The room was comfortable, truly clean, and elegantly furnished. The inn is about a half mile out of town - very walkable from town, quiet and with breathtaking views. We enjoyed dinner on the front porch with ocean views. Can't wait to return!

A beautiful quaint stay. Perfect location, comfortable and lovely staff. From morning coffee on the porch to afternoon cocktails on the Adirondacks, we had the best time. Would definitely stay there again.

Our stay at the Atlantic inn was a wonderful experience. Excellent customer service, exceptional food, the best bar tender ever (CeeCee!) and a great location. The Inn is an easy walk down to the center of town and yet feels worlds away. Make sure you plan time on the porch for dinner or brunch and of course the sunsets and sunrises. We highly recommend, we’ll be back!

My husband and I stayed here last night for a last minute trip out to block island. Beautiful views and adorably decorated. We had an amazing stay and an even more incredible dinner at the restaurant 1879. We can’t wait to come back!

If they run their Inn business the way they run their restaurant 1879 you do not want to risk this place. My family and I (all 7 of us) were looking forward to trying it as we have eaten everywhere else on Block island and usually for a nice high-end dinner we do WINFIELDS which is fantastic. Some friends recommended the 1879 restaurant here, so we figure we would give it a try. We showed up 10 mins before our 7PM scheduled reservation time and they did not have a table inside for us which is what I had called about when I made the reservation. They wanted to sit us on a table on the porch next to a veranda. At the prices they want for their food I’m not sitting on a porch like many other least costly places here on Block island. Not the experience we were going for. They do not care about the customer at all. What is the point of making a reservation at all with these people if they don’t honor it? Their attitude was pretty much too bad. Terrible way to run a business.

We have stayed at the Atlantic inn many times over the past 25 years and we were keen to see the changes since new owners took over in 2022. Clearly a lot of effort has gone in to updating the inn, with new furniture, new carpets, a different color scheme, AC in each room, and finally a working internet throughout the inn. Yet despite these improvements there are a few negatives that detracted from our overall experience. Breakfast is no longer offered which means that you either have to schlep downhill into town every day or head over to the Spring House hotel where you can purchase breakfast items. It’s also interesting to note that the Rose Farm inn close by includes breakfast as part of their lodging experience. The joy of lounging on the veranda with a good book also disappeared, with a few chairs/settees now crammed into a corner, with the bulk of the veranda now replaced by table seating waiting for evening dinner guests. Tapas on the lawn had also been a fun experience, but we found the menu offerings sadly lacking in choice, now predominantly concentrating on seafood offerings. Perhaps these comments can be attributed to a learning curve from the new owners, but it seemed that something was missing from the heart and soul of the inn.

This historic inn has been refurbished in a delightfully fresh "Victorian New England Chic" style, with an emphasis on relaxed elegance and a laid back Block Island vibe. Located on a hill overlooking Old Harbor, it sports a spectacular view of the ocean. Sunsets on the front lawn, stretched out on an Adirondack chair with cocktail in hand, makes you feel like Gatsby himself. The staff is warm, friendly, and helpful, and 1879 Restaurant is perhaps the best on the island. Denny, the head chef, is creative without being over the top--apps are off-the-boat fresh (raw bar and shrimp ceviche are great) and the entrees are superb. My chargrilled ribeye was done to perfection, and my wife loved the halibut. Leave room for dessert.
