Modern, contemporary two-storey small hotel situated in the middle of a celebrated working vineyard not far from Brtonigla. Easily accessible by motorway and less than an hour's drive away from a very quiet Pula airport. Only about 10 miles from the Slovenian border, and some rooms have Adriatic coastal views in the distance. No problems with parking as residents have their own area at the back of the property, although there are plenty of other informal spots around the building. We were impressed by the Cattunar's very attractive external design and there has clearly been lots of inves**ent in the general architecture and public areas. The glass and bright marble tiling make it look constantly pristine. Only two sorts of room here; junior suites and deluxe suites. The former seemed sufficient for us but my first impression was that we should have gone bigger. Second impression was that storage space was very limited. Probably ok for a couple days but any longer than that and you needed to be very creative. We're pretty neat and tidy as a rule but here we had stuff in all sorts of unusual places, and more clothes on display than we would normally like. Upsides were that the bed was supremely comfortable, the room was perfectly soundproofed and the air-conditioning was quiet and efficient . No problems with the adjoining bathroom; plenty of space with ample storage on tops, in shelves and in a separate open cabinet. The capacious shower was wet room style with a rainforest head and easy to operate controls. The hairdryer was a grip- operated monster. The suite had a balcony with a great view overlooking the vineyard and right above where the grapes are bought in for pulping. Also within sight was the a recently installed wine-tasting platform which seemed quite popular with local groups at certain times of the day. Breakfast was taken in a dedicated light and airy room near the pool. Plenty of tables inside and even more outside on a patio near the pool. I thought they put on a pretty good buffet-style spread each day and made a concerted effort to change items on a daily basis. All the usual bread, fruit and cheese and meat items were in situ plus a host of interesting sweet and savoury options too. All hot drinks are made to order and there's no problem with refills. Some foodstuff items are left out for snacking during the day and, later, beers and spirits can be ordered and taken away as required. All rooms have minibars so it's easy to liberate a beer in the afternoon and enjoyed it well-chilled in the evening. The pool has a pleasant view overlooking the vineyards and there's plenty of good quality sunbeds, with mattresses, dotted around the garden area. No umbrellas, but ample natural shade from nearby olive trees whilst there is also a bespoke freestanding awning. This is really a great place. Perfectly located in the vineyards of Istria, this newly built hotel (on the foundations of a winery) is really worth a stay. Great room, nicely furnished with a beautiful view. The hotel only offers breakfast, but there are many great options in the nearby villages. The wine is good (the winery is still producing wine), we spent every evening on the balcony enjoying the delicious wines from Cattunar winery. Our special thanks to Alessandro, the host, who is the good soul of the property. He helped us with restaurant recommendations and reservations and other good tips. If I had to mention something to improve, it would be the housekeeping. But this is really complaining on a very high level....

My wife and I spent three days here in June. It really is a most delightful place, very modern stylish. The rooms are extremely comfortable, the pool excellent and the staff are perfect, nothing was too much trouble. A most enjoyable three days whilst touring Croatia. Oh nearly forgot!! we also loved the wine

Rooms, staff, outdoors, indoors, breakfast,spa, view, ... simply top of the tops. In every aspect you have feeling of VIP trea**ent. Ideal to take this establishment as base and explore Istra from here. Nice, for sure we will be back. I recomend you to take wine tasting with Deborah.

Having previously stayed in 2019 for two nights, we finally managed to get back to the Wine Residence Cattunar for a five night stay in July. I am delighted to say that it did not disappoint on our second visit. This place has a magical quality when it comes to relaxation. You are made to feel very welcome and due to the size there is a very personal feel to the time spent here. The staff are extremely friendly and professional, helping with restaurant recommendations and bookings, and transportation needs as well. If you are looking for a lovely setting to spend a few days relaxing by the pool and exploring the local countryside then the Wine Residence Cattunar is for you. We travelled as a family of three and stayed in the beautiful La Collina suite. Thanks Alessandro and Karla for another memorable stay and looking forward to our next visit.

We visited Cattunar winery as part of an Istrian wine tour. We had our two year old son with us and we were made to feel so welcome there. We felt so comfortable and at ease there. We were shown around the cellars and bottling rooms. The wine tasting was superb. I found it amazing that they can make essentially the same bottle of wine that can taste so different due to the four types of soil on their land. Each soil type lent different characteristics to the wine. Every wine we tried was superb. The olive oil as well was fantastic. I believe they also have accommodation here, I can imagine it’s an incredible place to see the sun set with the views around the place.

We stayed here for 2 nights at the end of our Croatian roadtrip, and instantly regretted not booking for longer. We had the Grigia room, very spacious room with a nice terrace and wonderful view of the vineyard. Staff is absolutely amazing: helpful, friendly, warm, and they make you feel at home immediately. The complementary and private spa is fantastic, and the wines are the best we have tasted during our 2 week trip through Croatia. We will be back as soon as possible!

The moment you drive up the drive, you know this place is special. It is a beautiful, relatively new, bed and breakfast/hotel in the Istria area. The place is beautifully set in the middle of a peaceful vineyard. Every room has windows overlooking the vineyard. It is isolated and a wonderful retreat. Be sure to book a balcony if you can. The price is reasonable and it was amazing find. The breakfast is huge and had the best selections of any hotel on our trip. They have an outdoor pool, and a wellness room that you can book daily for one hour at no charge. There is whirlpool hot tub, sauna, dry infrared sauna, shower and a wonderful private veranda. We used it daily and loved it. The best part is the tasting room downstairs that is open to the public.. The Sommelier, Vanesa is the most welcome, down to earth host. She knows her wines and they produce amazing wines. She gave us a tour and helped us purchase a special wine that we wanted to age. We were only there two nights and wished we had allocated more during our two trip through Croatia. We hope to return someday. Onward
