Funky Hotel with fantastic views over the canyon. None of the staff spoke English so it was difficult to communicate, especially when we were trying to find the hotel. The hotel is located on a very narrow street and when you park in front to drop off your bags you are blocking traffic, it would have been nice if they had emailed instructions on how to find it and where to park. Breakfast was the usual continental and a bit skimpy and no option for an omelet or anything cooked. We stayed one night and that was enough.

This is an amazing hotel because of its long heritage. It was built many years ago and as such has incredible beams throughout. Our room had great views of the bridge and of other ‘hanging houses.’ The breakfasts are great too.

This hotel is in a 16th century building in the historic area of Cuenca. We had a large room with a balcony with an awesome view. The hotel had so much character and was spotlessly clean. The breakfast was delicious with a wide variety of food. The staff was very kind and helpful. We would definitely stay here again.

Charming historic hotel with amazing views. Very old world but what it lacks in 5 star luxuries it makes up with large rooms, amazing views and plenty of charm. Fabulous location to many of the historic sites. Would stay again. Ask for a room with windows and small balcony.

We stayed here a few years ago and went back, asking for and getting the same room this time...room 32...with a balcony with amazing views plus nice sitting area plus the most comfortable bed. What a special place! And positioned on the canyon with ability to take amazing photos at all times of day, plus relax with wine at sunset on your balcony. Also very nice and helpful owners, close by parking garage (3 min walk), etc. Also you are well positioned to see all of Cuenca...all sights are within 5-7 minutes walk...including up the hill beyond the church to the really nice restaurants up there that are less touristy, provide great food, and wonderful views of the town and the canyon.

This hotel is just lovely. Situated in a historical building a few steps away from the cathedral, it is located on the edge of the gorge overlooking the Huecar river and I think that just about every room must have a spectacular view. Our room was really spacious with a big double bed and a sofa bed, two big armchairs with a good sized wardrobe and the most amazing view across the gorge. There was a large bathroom with a tub and separate shower, all of it spotlessly clean. Friendly welcome at check-in and a small but good selection for breakfast including local pastries - the breakfast is served in the dining room with views across the gorge. There are lots of steps up and down inside the hotel so it might not suit somebody with reduced mobility. The Posada de San Jose is full of art and interesting artefacts, it's a really beautiful place offering rustic charm and reliable Spanish hospitality.

A warm welcome, a stunning room with views across the valley, comfortable and clean. However that's only the start , the hotel is located right in the middle of the historic city but the car park is only down the road, so it made for an easy break to our journey through Spain. It's charming, full of historic features and the staff are lovely. The food was really good and there was a varied menu with local specialities. Understandably they wouldn't allow our dog in the restaurant, however they gave us a room close to the restaurant on the ground floor with amazing views, a balcony and very comfy beds. For those travelling through Spain, although Cuenca takes you a bit further to the east of Madrid its worth it . It was lovely with its narrow cobbled streets, cathedral and art gallery.

Just WOW! I travel often and read a ton of reviews before deciding on an a place to stay but it’s not everyday you find a hidden gem like this hotel. The views are incredible (request room 32 - it’s where I was lucky enough to stay!) If day-tripping, definitely have a meal at the restaurant here- it offers the same beautiful views. My room was very spacious and had a balcony with sitting area - perfect for enjoying vino and cappacunino’s! The staff is very friendly and accommodating too. I debated between this hotel and the Parador but without question, I made the right decision to stay here! The Posada de San Jose is far more charming and intimate, less expensive and much closer to the Plaza Mayor for exploring Cuenca. It was the perfect stay for my first night in Spain and definitely won’t be my last.

This hotel is a wonderful find. Located near the Cathedral, Zobel contemporary art museum, the Casas Colgadas. Our room looked out over the ravine with a view of the countryside. The staff couldn't have been nicer. Very reasonable price. Although we didn't have dinner there, we heard great reviews of the restaurant.
