We stayed in a King spa room. Big bathroom, lovely decor, really well thought out with powerpoints including each side of the bed, bedside switches, heavy curtains, air con and electric blankets, selection of pillows and seating and tea/coffee. Linen is lovely and wall colours also very pleasant. But the real value here is the building - guests have the run of the house, with 2 sitting areas and a games/leisure area. There is a lovely fire and a few gas fires so it's cozy, sunny and lots of couches and chairs which are very comfy, around the couple of TVs. I hadn't realised there is also a guest microwave, full-sized fridge, plenty of cutlery/crockery, which some guests used for their dinner, and tea/coffee making with fresh milk and a supply of biccies. Tim also brought beautiful scones and jam in the afternoon. There are lots of historic articles to look at which I actually found fascinating - not just nicknacks, but each seems to have been carefully chosen. And the garden had lots to look at, the helebores, azaleas and arum lillies are in full bloom. It's a short walk to the shops where there's an IGA and a few cafes and restaurants. We heard train noise but it's not horrendous or screeching, just like a long truck passing by. We didn't get to have dinner in the restaurant, which was a shame. Perhaps next time. It's quite evident that Tim and Lucie actually care - they want their guests to enjoy their stay and to feel comfortable. The guesthouse was more than I hoped it would be, I can't call it a home away from home, but if you're looking for a place you can actually hang around in, especially if you have time to kill or it's raining, this is a really pleasant place to do it. It definitely exceeded my expectations.
