I don’t usually write reviews but I feel that for this Guest House it is necessary. Why the change of my usual habit ? It is not often that you discover a true gem which brings a smile to your face and a warm feeling inside. I visited this establishment with my wife and a friend for 3 weeks in February of 2025. It is run by a couple, Heike, who is originally from Germany, and Jolyon, who is South African. Both are round pegs in round holes. Warm, welcoming and run an excellent Guest House that I would return to in a heartbeat. It is the first place I have stayed in, whereby I actually felt like part of their family. Nothing is too much trouble in order to make your stay comfortable and fulfilling. The rooms are of an excellent size, good en suites, gives you a fridge and microwave and with a nice view of either the swimming pool or, as in our case, Table Mountain. They are cleaned daily by Irene who is a nice quiet local lady. Heike and Jolyon, both have excellent knowledge of places of interest to visit in surrounding areas, restaurants, and wine farms. A really useful point of reference and info. The breakfasts are superb and an occasion in themselves. We had great discussions with the other guests and felt that this added hughly to our enjoyment of our holiday. If you are given the opportunity to join the hosts when they hold their own BBQ (Braai) make sure you do so. Jolyon, rightfully, prides himself on his culinary abilities and is an excellent “braaier”, producing great steaks and Boerwors. Not to be missed. The outside area gives sun beds and the swimming pool to cool off whilst the house dogs, Sam and Milo are great fun and characters in their own right. I cannot stress enough how much we enjoyed staying at La Roche. It was a great experience, great value for money, and we hope to return again in the not too distant future. Thank you Heike and Jolyon.
