Luna Lodge

Amazing place. The owner and her staff have done, and continue to do a fabulous job. Beautiful grounds. Wildlife everywhere (including in your room sometimes). Yoga platform is truly magical… even if you’ve never done yoga!… staff is extraordinarily friendly and helpful. Keep in mind; no a/c, it’s a trek to get there, includes meals (which are good and healthy) but no real menu options. Must be willing to live close to nature for a few days.

If you are looking for the real Costa Rica jungle experience Luna Lodge will not disappoint you. It is truly off the beaten path but with the luxury of home. You have several accommodation choices from tent, to haciendas to bungalows. Lana the owner saw a vision for this property 24 years ago and she made it happen. Thatched roofing with bamboo walls. There is a beautiful pool and spacious gathering area for meals with rocking chairs to enjoy watching the macaws, howler monkeys and spider monkeys. The hike to Corcovado is challenging but well worth the experience. Beautiful fig trees with many hibiscus plants. We saw peccary (wild pigs), macaws, many spider and white face monkeys, pizote(coati). There a 2 hiking trails, each are 8kilometers going and returning. This is a must do, add it to your bucket list.

Visited Luna Lodge in the Osa Peninsula of Costa Rica with my partner for a week in celebration of my 50th birthday. Lana and her team were attentive, taking care of our every need; They provided transport from / to nearby Puerto Jimenez Airport and even fetched a toothbrush from the market in town, when I realized I forgotten mine. The food was delicious, fresh from the garden each day and the grounds were beautiful. We enjoyed the sounds just as much as the sights! We enjoyed a hike through Corcoran National Park, deep tissue massage and yoga at sunset. Met a few furry and slithery friends while there also! I couldn’t have asked for a better vacation.

Luna Lodge combines a fantastic location with great hospitality from staff that seem to really enjoy working there. The tone is set by Lena, the owner who fell in love with the location about 24 years ago and established an - at the time - groundbreaking sustainable eco lodge.She lives on the property and made sure to get to know every guest and check how things were going several times during our stay. We stayed in suite 1 with fantastic valley views; did a day hike in Corcovado National Park, a night walk and a birdwatching tour with Andres, who was well informed and eagle-eyed (well, ok no eagles… 🦅 but plenty of other birds). It rained in the rainforest - no surprise, but it did mean our walking shoes got soaked for two days, so bring plenty of socks. And if you get wet the humidity may mean it takes time to get dry again. We were glad to have ponchos. Food was good as was the service, freshly sourced and everyone ate the same (subject to dietary requirements), great breakfast from 6:00, lunch and dinner. A good pool and a terrace for relaxing in between activities and overall a friendly and relaxed vibe. - as well as a separate terrace in our suite. Transfer by the lodge from Sansa flight to Puerto Jimenez took about two hours - slow rather than long road. Corcovado is more remote and hence less crowded that some parts of Costa Rica, but fully worth the distance for spectacular wildlife and great stay.

A beautiful place! We were looking to feel remote and in the rainforest and Luna Lodge delivered. The staff are so wonderful and accommodating. The meals were delicious (several options for breakfast, one for lunch, and buffet style dinner). We enjoyed a hike to Corcovado, the small waterfalls on the property, driving down to the beach, and kayaking the mangrove (highly recommend). The bungalows were very comfortable-we were pleasantly surprised at the lack of bugs that made it in. We started in one that overlooked the parking lot and requested a switch and the staff were very proactive in helping us. The spa was very healing. We did not notice a lack of air conditioning in the rooms-it stayed very comfortable at night with the provided fan. Pool is very comfortable and delicious cocktails are available. Overall it checked all of our boxes!

A must-visit if going to Costa Rica. So remote and beautiful. Right in nature and very peaceful. The tents are great value and have an amazing view, need to walk up a few steps though so if struggle would be best to stay low. Highly recommend the kayaking

This was our second visit to Luna and certainly NOT the last. Everything about this place is perfect for those in love with nature, getting in touch with the beauty of our world and getting off the beaten path. My wife and I keep a Whole Food Plant Based diet with no added sugar, salt or oil and the kitchen team at Luna prepared perfect, delicious meals meeting this requirement throughout our entire stay. Ever member of the staff at Luna is talented at what they do, eager to please and a joy to interact with. We once again stayed in one of the honeymoon bungalows and loved it. Please note that while the rooms are both clean and spacious, there is no air conditioning and they are largely open air (except for the rooms in the Hacienda). This means that you will sleep with insect netting around your bed and if you are afraid of the occasional critter being in your room (e.g. large insects, lizards, etc.) then Luna Lodge is NOT for you. Some of the activities offered by Luna that we took part in on this trip (all of which are fairly priced and fabulous)...Corcovado National Park Tour, Lagoon Kayak, Night Walk, Permaculture Farm Visit, Yoga (9 times in 11 days!), massages with Amed (he is frickin' insanely talented!!!). Not really sure what else to say other than if you are looking to stay on the Osa in the middle of a rainforest, eat abundant, healthy food and be surrounded by a great staff who are caring and knowledgeable here simply is no place better. Oh, and the birding and wildlife sightings are AWESOME!!

Part of any adventure in Costa Rica is getting to your destination and Luna Lodge is no exception. But boy the payoff was so worth it. Our group spent three nights at Luna Lodge, a beautiful eco lodge high up in the jungle near Corcovado National Park. I was fortunate to travel with a fun loving bunch of expats and professional photographers and we took advantage of many of the activities offered including guided hikes, Safari rides, kayaking in the lagoon, night hikes, waterfall hikes, yoga and drinks by the pool. Many thanks to Lana and Luna Lodge for providing excellent service and three delicious meals in the lodge each day. Another memorable trip to cross off the bucket list
