Cornerways Guest House

Great find. Close to the centre of Carlisle. Lovely warm welcome. Immaculately clean. Spacious room. Decor cosy without being fussy. Excellent breakfast. Would definitely return if staying in Carlisle.

This was our stop off point on the way from Cornwall to a Scottish wedding. The guest house is a lovely building, perfectly located just a ten minute walk from the City centre. We arrived early enough to wander around the Cathedral, look at the castle and have a drink in town. The hostess, Adele, is absolutely lovely and can’t do enough for you. Parking is on street with a free “locals” disc pass provided by Adele. Our superior room was great with a separate room with bath and shower. Breakfast was huge and full of local produce (fab black pudding and sausages). There was yoghurt, fruit and cereal for those that can’t/don’t eat full English. If you want a recommendation for dinner, Gianni’s only 300m away is also a five for us. This will be our stopping point next visit.

I booked this accommodation on *********** on Sunday. The owner phoned me at 9pm on a Sunday evening unhappy with a request I’d made. I’d asked to keep my bicycle in a secure location indoors. She shouted “this is an expensive place with expensive carpets you can’t bring a bicycle inside”. She was very aggressive. Maybe she was having a bad day, maybe she hates cyclists, maybe this is just her manner. I asked if there was somewhere outside that I could lock my bike and she proceeded to rant that nobody in her 20 years had ever asked such a ridiculous thing. She suggested that I cancel, and at this point after her hostile Sunday evening phone call I agreed to which she said “right f** off then dear” and hung up. I suggest this is not the type of host most people who want to stay with.

Lovely room, quiet area but not far from the city centre. Comfy bed and very fluffy towels. Breakfast was really nice, you have to order the might before but it was spot on. Only thing I would have liked is an option for vegetarian sausages on the menu. Friendly owner, would stay here again.

Beautifully furnished rooms and bathrooms with and excellent preorder breakfast . This guesthouse oozes quality throughout and time and effort has gone into making each room look stunning. Situated 10 mins walk from the train station & city centre but in a quiet residence of Victorian stunning houses.

Great place. Lovely welcome on the afternoon. The room was big and welcoming. The pre ordered breakfast was fresh and tasty. Lovely host. Will return. Makes. Refreshing change from the boring chain hotels we all frequent to often. Great location to both m6 and carlsile.

Just returned after our 2nd visit to Cornerways everything was as we expected first class. We phoned before we left about an early check in but as the owner had a doctors appointment she could not manage it but she told us the best place to park near there. We were visiting the Christmas Market, after we had been there about 45 mins she rang us to say we could check in then. This is the kind of person she is. We will definitely be back next year

A beautiful property. The room I had was spacious, clean and warm. The hostess was friendly and very accommodating when I rang to ask for an early check in. Also provided extra milk and tea bags. 10 minute walk to the centre. Would recommend.

A truly horrible experience. Since my husband had his heart attack we have been making the most of life visiting lots of different areas. We use a popular accommodation site and found this place. How I wish we had actually scrolled through the reviews to see how others were treated. When I posted my honest review of this dump the hostess without the mostess replied with a tirade of lies making her look like the victim of malicious postings. Nothing could be further from the truth. From accusing guests and threatening them with legal action to sending them abusive text messages and trying to phone them. I made it clear I would keep all correspondence on the booking site so they could read what she said. She lied saying I'd kept phoning her but I was able to screenshot my phone and prove she in fact called me.. So my advice is stay somewhere else. Oh I'd love to know what the drunken lady who supposedly fell around waking people up with her laughing that i was accused of being had been doing in Carlisle because she obviously had more fun than we did in the place. And no matter how much tartan tat you decorate your place with you definitely don't have highland hospitality but in fact are more Basil Faulty in your approach to hospitality If you're going to lie make sure the person you're talking about doesn't call you out on it I expect she will respond with more lies to this so pay attention to what she says.
