Vine Valley Inn

An old hotel that is well positioned as a base to explore the Hunter Valley. The renovated bathrooms are a delight. While the beds are clean and comfy, the room furniture is old. The tv has the basics, but no Chromecast. There is a small fridge and a tea/coffee station but no microwave. A self-service breakfast is available in a small shared kitchen. Everything is provided freshly each day. One needs to compete with others for work and stove space, so choosing an off-peak time is important. Everyone is expected to clean up after their use - something not everyone did diligently. There are several stairs to traverse for both the front entrance and car park access. Not easy if you have heavy luggage. The staff are friendly and helpful. For us, spending another $70 a night to upgrade is probably our more likely move when we next visit the magnificent Hunter.

Looked it up on TripAdvisor and *********** Reviews were good and decided to book it. Interior is colourful, retro style. They have interesting furniture pieces too. Room number 6 was located in the corner and there was no air flow. Cleanliness is good, but there was dust on the lamps and on tables, there are tea amenities in the room. There is kitchen near lounge area and you can make cereal, toast or eggs for breakfast. There are some fruit and juice varieties in the fridge too. Overall a good experience.

Spotlights were: (1) Location: Central of Cessnock. The Cessnock retail business district is just one block behind. It was easy to access WWS, Coles, BWS, Kmart, Big W, Aldi, EB Game, Reject Shop and Super Cheap Auto, etc. (2) Interior: Very colorful and modern vintage style. Beds were comfortable and bathroom was modern and clean. (3) Facilities: Shared full kitchen, dining and large lounge area, self-serving with eggs, fruits, toast, jams, milk, tea, coffee and juice, etc. Downside was: No ground floor rooms. Stairs were steep through both front door and back door (access to backyard parking). For a family with little kids or elderly, it will be a challenge.

A pleasant experience in a quaint and quirky establishment. Beds were comfortable, ensuite large, shower great, Netflix available, free parking and a great location to walk to many restaurants and shops. The decor was amazing. Breakfast was great also with eggs, cereal, toast. Exterior doesn't represent the interior and no elevator so some may struggle with carrying luggage up stairs.

From the outside this place looks very dodgy and we weren't even sure if there was a business operating however once you get up the stairs, you will find a 'comfy home' style feeling. True to most of the other reviews this place is clean and comfortable. There is a free continental breakfast included and use of a kitchen and common dining area and living room. Felt like a backpacker place but it your own room and ensuite.

Spotless, quirky, comfortable, clean, lots of car parking, big kitchen, bedrooms renovated tastefully. Breakfast do it yourself cereal, fruit, toasts, egg, fully equipped kitchen excellent. Dining room, lounge room. Looks dreadful from outside and once up stairs a quirky fantasy, Great location. Highly recommend.

We found this Inn to be quaint, eclectic and stupendous in its decor and interior offerings with generously sized rooms, for us one of the family rooms with two teenage (17 & 18 yr olds) aged boys and ourselves a couple was very comfortable. The offer of serve yourself breakfast in the well appointed kitchen was a very welcome addition and merely added to the overall affordability of this establishment, this could also be extended to cooking your own evening meals if so desired. Location could not be better for access to the town centre and local ammenities with local hotels and restaurants an easy stroll from the front door. We would highly recommend this Inn to anyone visiting the region and will ourselves one day return to enjoy again the comfort offered by this establishment and its friendly staff.

I would only stay here again if there was no alternative the room was clean but the bathroom needed a handyman to clean fix up some fittings and fixtures the bed was comfortable but quite small for two people the tv was probably 10 years old and the remote needed a good clean

Probably one of the worst hotels we have stayed in and we have stayed in many over the last 50 years . Cannot believe all the hyped reviews!! Where were they staying ?Photographs of bedrooms bear little reflection of ours. For retro read road side furniture that even your granny would refuse and grubby carpets that must be older than us and definitely not quality. Certainly nothing quaint or exceptional especially if you know anything about art or antiques.Insistence on paying cash too for 2 nights.we suspect this wad to get around *********** commission as we got a cancellation notice shortly after booking in Cobwebs on dirty windows and ants route marching around the room. As for the bathroom and shower curtain. If you are going to the Valley find a Valley to stay in preferably with a vine and access to the outstanding scenery? There are many other ones to choose from and wish we had. We had booked our room through *********** and the "our epos had gone down" excuse to take cash was a way of avoiding commission to them as we received an email saying our booking had been cancelled, shortly after arrival. Very suspect.
