The River Guest House

The hotel has been under new ownership since late 2023- the new owners are friendly and attentive and seem dedicated to delivering a good service. We booked via a booking engine and got a riverfront room with balcony on the 4th floor. The room was an ok size, very clean with ac and fridge. The bathroom, decor and floor all seemed new. The balcony was large with tables and chairs and a nice view of the river. The bed was comfy and as we prefer to sleep with a fan rather than ac the helpful manager provided us with one. There is a nice patio restaurant overlooking the river which provides Thai and Indian food. We had BBQ tandoori which was very nice. The price was fair for the room quality. Breakfast was included and you can choose Thai or western. We chose the latter which wasn’t really to our taste- I’m not a fan of chicken sausage or fried eggs with salad but there was buffet fruit, toast, muffins etc. The only other downside was that the hotel is next to the main road through town so you have constant traffic noise but you can’t really notice it with the door closed. It’s a good location though- 5 mins walk to the old town and gem markets. I would definitely stay here again if in Chantanaburi.
