Sonder Market Hall

No matter how much you love Sonder (and I do), their “Market Hall” property in the West Loop is a terrible choice for a weekend stay due to the awful noise of the nightclub that sits on the first floor and literally shakes the floors and walls with pounding music from 9 pm to 2 am from Thursday thru Saturday nights. And Sonder actually WARNS you about this in the (fine print) listing, if you bother to read all the way to the very end of the online profile for Market Hall rooms. Stay away. I missed the warning, booked Thursday-Sunday and the first night was so awful that we had to leave at 6 am and find another building. What is outrageous to me is that Sonder even offers the rooms for Thur＞Saturday, knowing full well that the noise level is unbearable. That is malpractice. Their profile says “white noise machine and earplugs available…”. Otherwise, Sonder units elsewhere in Chicago are great. Just NOT Market Hall.

There is a nightclub on the 1st floor and it made it impossible to sleep. The room was vibrating (we were on the 3rd floor) and our 1 year old couldn't sleep (nor could we). It looked good, was easy to check in, but absolutely horrible experience in the end, really too bad. Customer service claimed that there was a disclaimer on the website about the 'noise from the night club and they could provide sound machines or ear plugs'. First off, that disclaimer came after we booked, and is buried in legalese. It should be in bold on the top, as not only was there noise, the vibrations didn't stop. They tried to say it was not refundable, due to the disclaimer. Eventually made it ok, but still didn't get all our money back. We had to move out after 2 hours.

Best place you could stay, feels like you have your own apartment. Everything is extremely nice and it’s a great location. Bed is extremely comfy, check in is a bit difficult since there’s no front desk

The best most safe place to stay and it was absolutely amazing! So cozy and home feeling, would definitely stay here again ! It was the perfect place to rest during the day and night. Sonder made it so easy and comfortable!

Great experience! Such clean rooms and helpful staff when needed. There is a club but its barely that loud honestly. Its in a great area and not far from food and places! Parking is street only but there are alot available before 5.

This was a great spot. We had an Elkay water filter outside our room, which we used often! Everything was efficient and tidy. It would have been cool to have a few options on pillow thickness. There were 6 pillows-but they were all super thick, 2 thick, 2 fluffy, & 2 thin would be optimal for everyone.

We are a couple working remotely and booked an apartment for a couple weeks at the market hall. We were very satisfied with our space. It served us perfectly with a fully equipped kitchen, work station and fast wifi, in unit laundry, perfect cleanliness and comfort. The building has its own gym which is great for us as we are very active. We loved the area and the downtown is also very easily accessible. Very smooth stay! We’ll for sure be back!

Great hotel next to Union Park. We had a really nice stay here. Our unit was super clean and had everything we needed. The view from our room was amazing. Communication with the staff was smooth. The gym has every equipment I wanted so I could maintain my workout routine. I’d highly recommend staying here.

This place is great! It’s new, so everything was working great. Spacious, comfortable and worth the $. The TV was missing in the bedroom, and the coffee selection could be stepped up! The location is good, just a short walk east on Randolph and you have a huge assortment of places to eat and shopping.
