We liked this place during are recent BC road trip. The place certainly has character. First of all, the staff was very polite, which is actually refreshing in this day and age. The views are nice and the sunset was absolutely stunning. The rooms are good enough, however no air conditioning. Luckily we did not need it either. The place is kinda in the middle of nowhere, so either bring food with you or eat at the fine dining restaurant, which is expensive. We ate dinner and breakfast and liked the experience. The deserts were excellent. However, they can improve on the kids menu. The wifi is not reliable. BTW, there is a bear who lives near the property and his name is Bernie...LOL...recommended for short stays...

We stayed here 10 days ago for 2 nights. Firstly every member of staff that we encountered were friendly &helpful.. The lodge itself was also beautiful. Rooms, large clean & with magnificent views. We saw two bears walk by our room window one morning.. The lodge is right along side the Trans Canada Hwy which didn't bother us at all. We came to the area for hiking but most trails were still closed due to snow or being washed out. I have to say the actual location of the lodge was not really ideal for us. Half way between Golden & Revelstoke(which we'd fully realised on booking) but maybe too remote for us. We ate at the lodge one night for dinner as there's nowhere else around, good food but like many have said, pretty pricey.

This resort misses the mark. It has some positives and some negatives. Positives: big rooms, lovely toiletries, coffee machine in room, high end restaurant, stunning views Negatives: no fridge in your room so you can only eat at the high end restaurant (approx $200 per couple for entree, main, dessert not including drinks / tips. Breakfast approx $60 per couple / kids meals $15 - 20). Which is ok for one night but not multiple. The closest town is 44km one way so if you want to eat somewhere else you need to account for fuel and travel. Rooms are not serviced daily and they only provide 2 caffeine coffee pods and one decaf so not ok for staying a few days. The rooms are really hot for summer. The single opening window isn’t enough to provide a cool room. They do provide a pedal stool fan however it is really noisy and doesn’t put out much air flow. They need to instal ceiling fans or air cons if they want to be a summer resort. The bonus is the fan blocks out the truck breaking noise which goes all night. This place is 100 m from the main road. They do provide ear plugs but it isn’t comfortable when your also hot and tossing and turning. A few issues we had: Tv’s in rooms not working, ice machine broken so you have to go to the front desk for ice. I can understand they want you to purchase their drinks and they ask you not to drink your own drinks in the grounds however they don’t provide a service and their upstairs bar in the billiards room is closed in summer. We stood their for 5 mins, waiting for staff who were sitting there having a meeting. There was no sign and not one of them got up and said…sorry this is closed can you go downstairs. In the end we went to the restaurant early to have pre dinner drinks. The staff didn’t want us sitting at the table we had booked as we were an hour early. The majority of tables were empty. I asked if we could just sit and have drinks and they said no. I was a bit short with the staff and they said we could sit on the Verandah. We did this, listened to the trucks going past, looking at the stunning view till our booking was ready. Then told we can sit anywhere - as all the tables were predominantly empty. It’s weird as I’m not sure if it’s just junior staff, or they aren’t prepared for summer guests. The meals were really lovely but for a high end restaurant there is no dress code, kids running around, truck noise and it just doesn’t fit. It would be nice if they also offered an alternative menu for people staying multiple nights as not everyone can afford $200 a night per couple for dinner. This isn’t really a relaxing quite place to sit and watch nature due to the main road. Their are fire pits however even on the cool evening we were here, the staff member cutting wood, didn’t set them up or light them. If they did, maybe more people would mingle outside during the night. It just seems they are missing the mark and truthfully I wouldn’t need to come back here again.

Be warned - this is NOT for families. The restaurant is a complete disaster. The property is 45 minutes from Golden and an hour to Revelstoke. It is quite remote and stunningly beautiful. We stayed in the hotel for 2 nights and the rooms are comfortable and spotlessly clean with stunning views. However. Upon arrival after a long drive from Calgary we found the restaurant is apparently fine dining (the wine list includes $300 bottles of wine), with an extremely limited adult menu of 5 dishes. Being nothing we liked, we asked to order chicken from the childrens menu and the server was very accommodating to our request. The food was excellent and we spent over $150 on the meal. It is a relaxed, casual restaurant and there were children running around without shoes, people in hiking gear, as well as people like us who were tired after a long journey. We ate breakfast in the restaurant the next day and discovered the pork sausage was seriously undercooked. The server apologised profusely and she complimented our drinks. We booked the restaurant again for that night and we went off hiking. In the evening, we ordered chicken from the childrens menu and offered to pay double (or more) for adult sized portions. The server refused so I asked to speak to the restaurant manager - Yun. I explained what had happened the night before but she was completely resistant to our request. She argued for more than 35 minutes in front of other customers, telling me this was a fine dining restaurant (laughable) and that we could only order red meat, fish or celeriac from the adult menu. We definitely could NOT have chicken. She told me she could feed the children but we would have to drive to Golden to get dinner. I burst into tears and asked to speak to the hotel manager. She was excellent, spoke to Yun and sensibly told us that of COURSE we could have the chicken and pay double for the adult meal! She was hugely apologetic and very kind but we felt so humiliated by the whole incident. Disliked Absolutely AWFUL restaurant customer service from the restaurant manager. This is NOT fine dining and fails to meet anyone's needs. If you're looking for an expensive, beautiful meal, I'm not sure you'd be happy seeing kids running around barefoot?! Or discover that of the 5 menu options, they had run out of 1 option? And if you're a family needing a place to stay mid journey, make sure to check the menu and book in advance. The hotel aims to attract families but the restaurant needs to accommodate family needs. Ultimately, we ended up driving 45 minutes each way to Golden and back, to eat at a restaurant, late at night, in the dark, with two hungry, grumpy kids because we were so ashamed and humiliated by our experience in front of all other customers. We also weren't sure if Yun might spit in our meals or if we might be served undercooked food. So in the end, the hotel manager gave us a $90 discount to cover our gas to Golden and back. We received free drinks for the u

Quite disappointing that they did not make the room. When confronting them the lady of reception was looking for strange excuses (‚because of covid…‘, ..I might have forgotten to tell you on arrival..‘, really not very convincing) I would not recommend staying here

Food and wine are spectacular (truly some of the best we've had!), staff is warm and highly professional, and rooms are clean and cozy. We gathered for business, but HML would be the perfect spot to host a summer wedding as well! Our group LOVED their experience and would be thrilled to return for more adventures in the area.

Amazing food, clean and comfortable rooms, easily accessible, professional and friendly staff. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a quiet escape or adventure trip. Looking forward to returning once again, stayed in the Summer and want to check it out for heli skiing in the Winter.
