Hotel Aquila

I stayed at the Hotel Aquila for one night when driving through the Dolomites and it made for a good base for the night. The hotel is in a good location in Cortina at the beginning of the pedestrian area close to the shops and restaurants. When I arrived at the hotel the parking was full but I was directed to the car parking just over the back of the town and the parking was fine and very cheap. The room was comfortable which was a single room and was quite a large size with pine furniture and a very large bathroom and there was a small balcony too overlooking the side and main pedestrian area. The breakfast was fine and had a good selection. A good base for the night.

This was the worst experience we ever had in a hotel. The room wasn't as expected AT ALL and we are still waiting to get our money back. The room was outdated and the furniture damaged, but I would've been fine with that if the room had been clean. There were hairs in the bathroom, mold on the shower curtain, dirty stains on the carpet and blood on one of the lampshades. The smell in the room was really bad, since it was right next to the outlet of the kitchen. I would definitely not recommend staying here, especially for the ridiculously high price.

The staff we met were grumpy, and very little service minded. They didn't even say hello when we checked in - but talked amongst themselves and completely ignored us. the room was a sad story as well. The socalled breakfast was miserable - the worst we have had in many, many years. It was very small, and poor selection. the cheapest of the cheap. We do NOT recommend this hotel!

This hotel is charming. The rooms were clean and had everything needed. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of choices. The connecting restaurant was even tastier. We had a car rental and easily parked it at the hotel lot. We had access to the older downtown section by walking out of the lobby. It was a lovely visit.

I had stayed here some years ago and was okay. Booked a room in March 2022, paid in full ($5,140.00) on July 22. Arrived on Tuesday August 23. Within hours I was back at the front desk asking for help with WIFI/internet access. Hotel advertised on ***********, stating they had wifi available and free. None in my room. They said they would look into it. Next day complained more. Could not email, text, send pictures or access websites. They said they would fix it. Every day got worse but I was patient I was spending $257.00 a day, expecting like anyone would - internet access. I tried to change rooms - even if it cost more. No rooms were available - they said. I asked for separate router for my room and they said they would try and get one. Finally, Sunday morning, I yelled and ask to check out. Suddenly, they said they had a router and to pick it up at the front desk. A little too late. Monday I left room and pre paid parking space. I asked for refund of remaining 14 days. They unequivocally said NO. Citing three reasons. 1) I refused their offered solutions (NOT TRUE), 2) they really had the router all along, but I didn’t pick it up (NOT TRUE) and 3) I yelled at desk boy and therefore crossed the line and if I said anything else, they would “contact the authorities”. THEY OWE ME $3,598.00 REFUND!!!!! I checked into Hotel Alaska up the street. They were gracious and accommodating and genuinely interested in how I had been treated. Apparently, new owners and new unskilled, rude, staff and management. I am in the process of fighting it thru American Express Platinum Card benefits - who are working with Bookings,com. Worst I’ve been treated ever and called a liar (lady manager said I was just trying to get a bigger bed and room). Put a real dent in my psyche for a relaxing climbing/hiking holiday.

We lost something inside the hotel room. Very unacceptable. I had the impression Cortina is a relatively safe city, so dissapointed with this incident. Apart from the safety issue, the hotel is overpriced for the value they offer. In need of a renovation, carpet is very old and pillow is so thin it’s sad. Very small elevator, could not fit the luggages so we have to go back and forth a couple of times. Definitely no service, no smiles, no welcoming gesture.

Hotel was OK. Location is great. Don't expect anything luxurious, it's a 3 star hotel at best. No room amenities provided. I don't usually give poor reviews but this deserves one. Our stay at Hotel Aquila was fine until we checked out. I happened to left my suit inside the wardrobe and when I called back they said they will check with housekeeping. So I called a day after, to my surprise they said they didn't find anything. I begged them to check once more and the staff rudely told me that 'no suit' is the answer. It is partly my fault that I left my personal belonging, but a trustworthy and professional staff is key to the hospitality industry.

This hotel is a huge disappointment. We felt treated like dogs. It advertises itself as one of the few hotels in Cortina with a pool, and shows up in *********** search listers as such. The pool is closed since months, in fact years, while it still shows pictures of it both on *********** and on its own website. We selected this hotel months ago specifically for the swimming pool, and only chose to pay the hefty rate for that. You can imagine the disappointment when we arrived on foot after a four day trekking in the beautiful Dolomites with 3 children. The receptionist showed no empathy at all, nor even the faintest willingness to think about a solution or a compensation. Instead he aggressively wanted to check us in, or would "ignore us" and start serving other customers. For complaints, we were sent away with an email address of the owner, which turned out to be not the case. Above scam has been going on for years, I have now found out via other online reviews. Besides that, the hotel as such offers no value for money. It is run down with scratched furniture, and dirty carpets. It may look nice on the front, but is in urgent need of a renovation on the inside. The price we paid was unfair. The hotel is clearly counting on one-time visitors that will never return anyway. I am not used to give low ratings on hotel reviews, on the contrary, but here I would like to warn other travelers: avoid this place at all cost!
