Musella Winery & Relais

On the occasion of my father in law’s 70th birthday we booked 4 rooms for an entire week at Musella. The staff was happy to help us with the booking from home and finding the best suited accommodation for our family. Musella is a beautiful place with lots of history and we very much enjoyed our stay. They a have a lovely pool (not heated) where you can relax to the sound of the nearby creek. The staff is helpful and kind, the breakfast has a wide selection of local food and the rooms were clean and spacious. Please note that there are friendly dogs (the previous owners) running around the arena and in order to go to restaurants a car or taxi is required as I would not recommend to try and walk along the road. We can highly recommend a stay at Musella and do not forget to join the wine tasting while you are there!

Musella Weinery & Country Relais is a fantastic place and winery. The staff are very helpful We had a double room on the ground floor with a terrace where you could enjoy a bottle of their own produced wine. The rooms are all individually decorated with very comfortable beds, clean rooms and a fantastic breakfast.

We had a wonderful time here with our family of 8. We rented the 2 bedroom apartment for 5 of us, and 2 single rooms for the other 3. Everyone had their own space but we could all enjoy breakfast together in the morning. Everything was very clean and comfortable. We did a truffle hunt with the kids (super fun!) and a cooking class for my husband and myself. They have a beautiful pool area to relax after a day of walking around a city. There is also a great restaurant just down the road you can walk to. If you stay here be sure to book a winery tour and wine tasting. The old buildings are just gorgeous to see and the wines are excellent!

My wife, two young kids (9 and 11), and I recently stayed at Musella for a night on our way through Verona. We booked a two-bedroom apartment months in advance and were excited to stay at what is a lovely bed and breakfast. We arrived late (around 11:30 pm) on the night of our reservation, in part, because we got lost trying to find the place. We received a confirming email earlier that day, however, so we weren’t concerned. The email didn’t say anything about needing to call ahead if we were coming in late, so we were surprised to find the front gate locked and no lights on when we arrived. I called the number listed on the call box, which apparently connected me to the front desk clerk/manager who was offsite at the time. I’m not actually sure who the woman was because she didn’t identify herself, but she was very rude. When I let her know who I was, she immediately started berating me for not calling ahead. She was upset that she couldn’t reach me all day (she had been calling my wife’s phone, which was off), and I was afraid she had given our room away. My family and I were sitting on the side of a desolate road in the middle of the night in a foreign country, so I tried to be polite and apologetic. And fortunately, our room was still available. Everything seemed fine after the mystery woman opened the gate remotely and guided us to our room over the phone. The next morning, however, I had another unpleasant encounter with her while “checking in.” Rather than asking me how my stay was, she continued grumbling about our late arrival the previous night. Later that morning when I was checking out, the issue came up again when she (for the first time) mentioned a 20-euro “late arrival” fee that I was being charged. I explained that I was unaware I needed to call ahead—and that the confirming email didn’t say it was required—but she just kept arguing that “everyone knows you have to call” and that it’s mentioned in the “terms and conditions.” Her tone and demeanor was unprofessional and infuriating. Worse, I apparently got charged this ridiculous fee because Musella’s reception desk “closes” at 7 pm. As I said, the place itself is lovely and the owner (we ran into him as we were walking to our room the night we arrived) seemed nice. I rarely give bad reviews, but the mystery woman earned one by making me feel like my entire stay was an imposition to her. She got the 20 euro fee from me, but blew any chance that I or anyone I know will ever stay there or order their wine in the future. Seems pretty shortsighted, although I can’t say I’m surprised given her behavior during all three of our interactions.

Had an absolutely wonderful time at Musella with Lucia, our guide. The winery is gorgeous, family-run, with a lovely ethos for biodynamic, natural wines. We'd booked onto a public tour, but ended up having a private one - they still ran the tour even though there were just the two of us! Lucia was a very friendly and knowledgable guide, she answered all of our questions, and was very easy to talk to. On top of all of that, the wines were delicious - I especially enjoyed the rose and Valpolicella Superiore - and we got to enjoy meats, cheeses, balsamic vinegars, olive oils and spreads all sourced from the winery or locally. We were staying in Verona and didn't have a pick-up, but it was very easy to reach by public transport. Musella have a bed and breakfast as well, which we didn't stay at, but now I'm really keen to!!

Great accommodation, friendly people and awesome wine. Wine tasting experience was perfect! Mountain and City bikes were available to go around the city. Trekking path was also good (map provided). Booking through their website, we get a 2011 Cosmo bottle! Exciting!

Spacious, comfortable villa with vineyard and wine tasting tour. (separate but must do, good price). Superb breakfast, one of the best, sorry about the fact that they do not serve lunch or dinners because those would be just as amazing. Nothing in the way of restaurants I would recommend near the venue. You can eat in close by Verona where they have many choices. Staff highly professional and helpful. A fine "get away from it all" kind of place. Wines are worth staying for forever. Green pass required by restaurants in Verona but not for take away or eating outside. Visitors from outside Italy have to be prepared since this is unique to Italy and a handful of other countries.

An amazing villa/lodge and vineyard, this location just 10 mins or so from Verona centre is one of the best places we have stayed at whilst visiting Italy. Not only are the rooms extremely comfortable and tastefully rustic but the environment is very tranquil with a small clear water river running behind the rooms. You can borrow a canoe, walk in the vineyards or cycle (included). The facility unfortunately does not offer lunch and dinner - do not go to the Osteria a few minutes away unless you have an ITALIAN green pass to avoid problems with their unpleasant staff). The lodge DOES offer one of the best and most comprehensive continental breakfasts we have enjoyed. Pastries, fresh cheeses, cuts, boiled eggs and savories all included in the price. That is worth trying just in itself. The wine tasting experience and wine distillery is a great treat (separately charged but very reasonable costs). Their wines are superb as are the other products that have to be tasted. Staff are always helpful and available. I would recommend this to anyone who is not just a lover of wine but also of peaceful countryside settings that take you back to a more genuine time. If you want some action a drive to Verona centre is very fast. At the time of stay: outstanding value for money.
