The Rutland Hotel

Well nice hotel but room 108 right at the back over kitchens woken up very early every morning due to fans and kitchen staff talking one morning was 5.30am bar shuts early as well would not stay again .only good thing is breakfast is really good and it's on the seafront

we were part of a coach party. the rooms were of a very good size. Only let down was the size of shower and we are only slim but husband being very tall and long limbs found it hard to move in shower. Food and service in restaurant were excellent. Over all would recommend.

3 star hotel, 5 star staff. From Sharon in the bar to the dining staff and the housekeeping staff they were absolutely first class and very attentive. Hotel was very clean, entertainment was above what was expected. Would love to go back!!!!

All aspects of this hotel are excellent. Cleanliness, room standard, and service is first class. Staff are friendly and helpful and we'll trained. Food is of a very high standard in both quality and quantity. I would definitely stay here again.

Fantastic hotel, spotlessly clean, wonderful friendly staff and meals are amazing with the chefs able to cater for any allergies or intolerances. Rooms are of a good standard, well equipped and sea view rooms are available on request and a small extra fee. Short walk to nearest bus stop, Manx Electric Railway and Horse Drawn Tram passes the front door during the summer months.

Rutland hotel This is 3 a star older terraced hotel catering primarily for coach trips. For this they are well set up. I would not choose this hotel if travelling independently. There is no on site parking and promenade parking is restricted. There is no garden, it provides the essentials. There is one small lift for 2/3 persons. Like some other hotels nearby the front steps are steep with risers 11-12”. Never seen this before, it is NOT suitable for people with mobility issues. The corridors are narrow and it’s a bit of a warren inside. Our emergency exit door had a sign saying use an alternative. Our Room was clean and of good size as was the en suite shower. Our Bed was very poor just 5” foam flattened in places on a cheap solid base. The Corridors and upper rooms can be surprisingly hot. The Internet is up to 50mbps which is really very good for a hotel Staff are multi national - they are not in career jobs. Food at dinner is quite good though i think it is loaded with salt, we got very thirsty afterwards. One option is a simple carvery, gammon etc An English breakfast is served quite acceptable. ( No muesli ). Tea is weak, coffee instant. Overall if you have no disability its not a bad hotel to roll up to in a coach trip. Just be realistic in your expectation. Location wise its about a mile from the shops in douglas so allow 25-30 mins to walk up. There is a bar which has a bit of music though there are a few alternatives within walking distance. Hotel wine runs at £20 a bottle , its a cheap plonk but ok as a table wine. You never see a manager which i reckon is always a bit of a bad sign when they keep out of sight. Why two star rating?, well if you have a sub standard bed and when you report it you can see it’s a familiar tale to staff and nothing is done… Sent from my iPhone

The room was comfortable 308 with a lovely bathroom but at the back of the hotel facing close up to what looked like a cliff edge so no view.did look in one of the sea view rooms which was lovely. The lift which takes two is inadequate for the size of the hotel. At Breakfast it was near Impossible to call the lift. The food buffet style was good although a little rushed. Staff very efficient and friendly. Not suitable for disabled guests as very steep steps up to the hotel, not wheelchair accessible. Overall our stay was great but wouldnt recommend it to anyone who has poor mobility.

Absolutely loved our stay here! The hotel was spotlessly clean, the food was lovely and the staff couldn't have been more kind or attentive. Our room was really spacious, I'd highly recommend staying here! We would definitely stay again! My only tiny gripe is that we were above the kitchen, so the room was unbearably hot at times plus the staff were very noisy outside around 6 a.m each day! But other than that we couldn't fault it. Immaculately presented, spotlessly clean and really comfy beds.

Bed room suberb Bath room Suberb Breakfasts superb Evening Meal very good to Good. the only problem was the large steps at the front of the house the arkell bitter was 10p more expensive than in the queens Pub just down the riaD
