Delicious food. Fantastic service from very friendly, attentive staff.

Beautiful accommodation, lovely staff. Couldn't be more helpful. We weren't going to be checking in until late and the hotel called me and were so flexible and understanding. The breakfast was perfect. Would definitely recommend and hope I will stay again soon.

We recently held a wake at The Crown. Mark and his team were extremely helpful, sensitive and efficient. The buffet was fantastic and plentiful. Bar service also very efficient .Thank you. We look forward to going back in more relaxed circumstances.

As experienced Brit Stop members, we thought this sounded like an 'off the beaten track' country pub making an ideal place to park our camper for the night and enjoy a wholesome meal from a varied menu. Yes, it is down a couple of lanes and we parked in a quiet & spacious car park, but wait for it...we were extremely disappointed with the minimal, uninspiring menu & the prices but we were hungry! Not being chip lovers we both chose the sausage & mash despite it being served with just marrow & gravy at £15+ per head, it had to be cooked to a special recipe, after all you can do a lot with marrow. At least it was served quickly but with no phone signal we could not take a photo. So imagine an average bowl shaped plate with two table spoons of mash in the middle with a small serving of gravy(no pieces of onion)on top and two slim sausages on top of that. The marrow which was actually two very thin slices of a large courgette(a marrow is much bigger) was placed underneath the mash, unseen and uncooked! An unadvertised service charge was added to the bill, so we paid and left, still feeling a bit hungry.

Such lovely service , great room, good grounds with plenty of parking and good food. We took our dog and they are really dog friendly . There are plenty of bins and water in the bar for the dog. The ambience and decor was just how I like it. Would love to come and stay again.

Dropped in for lunch and sat outside on the sunny terrace. We had scampi and the cod and it was great. Good efficient service, lots of parking and seemed to be very popular. My son wanted to come back the next day but we were down in Plymouth so it was a bit too much of a trek. We’ll definitely come back if we are in the area again.

My wife and I went for the "fizz and chips" Friday offer with another couple to celebrate our close together birthdays. As it was a celbratory evening I didnt want to make too much fuss, and although not major issues, I feel I should point out the following: The advert says "pint of beer" I was given a glass of beer and no explanation When the bill arrived, a 10% tip had already been added without any discussion. Perhaps ask customers if they are happy for this to be added? I appreciate these are not major issues but both left us feeling a bit disappointed. The fish and chips were large enough although my wife felt the tartare sauce was unseasoned.

The pub is lovely but when we arrived we were told that because it is a Tuesday evening that the menu is limited. The pub has been tastefully decorated with log fire and comfy leather seats. Where it is a lovely setting to relax. We were meeting friends and we chatted for hours. I think we should have been told that there is a limited menu before booking. It was extremely limited and we struggled to find something we wanted to eat. When you are eating out you would like to have something homemade and tasty. Everything was with chips or sausage and mash. The chips were from the freezer like Macdonalds. I found the food disappointing and the scampi was overcooked. I didn't want to make a fuss because we were with friends and I didn't want to ruin the evening. There wasn't any hot puddings. The rooms was lovely and clean but far too hot! We told the waitress the following morning. It was too hot to sleep and was unbearable. Breakfast was themes of a full English breakfast with no menu with no cereal or fresh fruit. The service was good and they brought out toast but ran out of white bread. I appreciate it is a difficult environment for any business at the moment but I think it is better not to be open if you cannot provide a normal service. For me it was disappointing and due to that I would not return. If the food had been delicious it would have been a different review.

Really disappointed- was recommended and never had such a tasteless sauce with mussels-sent it back once only to be bought more of the same, £16.50 for something so tasteless, was given £6 off the bill, but an apology from the chef was in order and we should not have been charged. Another table complained so wasn’t just me. Very disappointing particularly when the Drayton had come with such recommendations.
