Whistlefield Inn

Allow overnight parking for motorhomes at a charge of £20 a head which is converted into a voucher for spending on a meal in the pub. Forced to do this due to MH visitors taking advantage of their hospitality and not visiting the pub. We've had a superb gourmet meal. Beouf bourginion and Lamb shank with fresh veg and mash absolutely delicious. We enjoyed a bottle of wine and desert too so spent more than our vouchers but too yummy to say no to. Warm welcome and delightful ambience as well as excellent service.

It's been a while since I visited The Whistlefield. Have always liked the place and decided to have lunch there with friends. The current owners have done a grand job in keeping a nice balance of a quality Inn, providing fantastic food at a reasonable price. This coupled with good service and in a magnificent setting, will ensure I will recommend to people and hopefully revisit before long myself. Sorry no food photos, I was enjoying it too much.

Had a delicious lunch of soup & toastie which was very reasonably priced. My husband had home made fish cakes, chips and salad which he said was the best he’d ever tasted. Compliments to the chef. Will definitely be back.

Delicious food. Lovely family run hotel. Beautiful views. Had our anniversary meal there. Average prices. We were very impressed with quality of food. Desserts were great too. Quick and good service. Impressive selection of gins and draughts. The views are outstanding.

Room was great, lovely people with excellent service and a beautiful view. We stayed for one night on a car tour we were doing. We took a walk down to the loch before dinner my oh my - what a view. Walked lochside without really seeing anyone else, which was great! Light hitting the mountains meant the view looked different every 10 minutes. There were very few midges and we didn’t get bitten once. Back for dinner and the service was friendly and efficient. We don’t eat meat but there were plenty of options for us. Massive portions (we carb loaded with the spicy macaroni, chips and salad - no regrets!) and a beautiful view from one of the three dining areas. Our room was also lovely - nice touches here and there. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a peaceful break in a stunning area.

This is a lovely location overlooking Loch Eck. They have a Great selection of food with a good vegetarian selection. This is our fourth visit and the food has been great every time. Good size portions and smaller one's also available. Very friendly staff

This was just the loveliest place to eat. The weather was great so I ate lunch outside and as it's dog friendly my dog was able to sit with me. The meal was lovely and plenty of it!!! I also had an evening meal there one night as I was staying just along the road and again the dog was welcome. Another lovely meal and the staff (who was extremely busy managing the bar and doing all the waiting) was very friendly. I was so impressed I thought I might stay one night on my return trip from Islay but it was booked up on the night I needed. Thoroughly recommend to anyone looking for a lovely meal.

The hotel is beautifully situated near the banks of Loch Eck. The decor inside is lovely traditional Scottish. I had made a mistake with my booking (booked for the same night in 2023!!) but the staff were great and I managed to get a room. The room again was tastefully decorated with a nice bright ensuit. The bar was cosy but the weather was stunning so I sat outside overlooking the glorious views of the loch. Dinner and breakfast was excellent, very tasty and super portions, which were most welcome after a day on the motorbikes. All the staff were friendly and helpful.

Family of 6 spending a few days in Strachur. We booked for Sunday Lunch and we’re surprised that the place wasn’t busier, specially when there were a good few cars in the car park. The Inn is just over 3 miles out of Strachur and easily accessed. Our experience was excellent from the moment we arrived. We were 5 adults a 7 year old and a young Cocker Spaniel. As we stepped inside we were most warmly welcomed by the waiter and shown to a lovely table overlooking the loch and mountains. Child friendly, our 7 year old was delighted with his chicken nuggets chips beans and ice cream. The dog was happy with the biscuits he received. We avoided the starters and went straight to mains and it was a very good a la carte menu so we used that although the lunch menu was great value at £8. We had Beef Madras Curry, Scampi, Fishcake, Chicken Schnitzel, Chicken and Rocket pasta, all very tasty and good sized helpings. As it was our last day holiday we indulged in desserts and sticky toffee cheesecake, various ice creams and a peanut feast cheesecake were all devoured with great gusto. The wine price was also very good with a delicious Picpoul for £24. A good selection of draught beers also on tap. Absolutely 100% all round, spotless, efficient, good value and lovely reasonably priced food.
