We were driving home from Wisconsin to Arizona. We selected a Google Maps "alternate" route to try and get some different scenery. This route took us through some back roads in Nebraska and Colorado. Shortly after entering Colorado, it started raining really hard. Torrential downpour is an understatement. We stopped at a Loves in Eads Colorado to get a beverage and a break from the rain. It showed no signs of letting up, so at 11 pm we ended up at the Travelers Lodge. They had rooms available. They charged $82 for a "night". The room had 2 queen bed that were way too high off the ground. There was a 32" TLC TV with ROKU - no cable, etc. The internet connection to supply the TV kept going out. The room was warm and muggy. There was a fridge in the room, but it was not plugged in, so we couldn't bring in our beverages to chill or refreeze our ice packs (would have been fine if we were going to be staying longer than 5 hours). We found 3 dead crickets, 1 dead spider and 1 rather large live spider (hiding in the bathroom, behind the toilet). We were afraid to walk barefoot in the room. For $82 for a night, I expect a decent quality room. This room would have met our expectations at $35-40 for a night.
