Avis : Alba House Hotel

C’est vraiment une belle maison et un bel endroit. La chambre était très agréable et confortable. Les propriétaires sont adorables, à l’écoute malgré la barrière de la langue et toujours de bon conseil. Désolé de ne pas avoir eu le temps de vous dire au revoir l’autre jour.

Absolutely beautiful house chosen by us to stay at for a mini break as a base to discover Edinburgh, such a lovely warm welcome by Kath and really helpful pointers on finding our way around via the endless buses, the house is large and spotless, parking spaces for 5 cars, bus stop almost outside the door and the room we had was rear facing on the first floor and was lovely and spacious, very comfy, quiet and a modern bathroom with shower. We will return and we will book here too, the only thing I would like added to the experience at Alba House would be a cooked breakfast to the morning menu even at additional cost but the continental breakfast was just fine to start your day on. 10/10 from us, got home earlier today and already pine to return.

We had a lovely double room on the main floor facing the back of the house. Cath was a gracious hostess, helping us get oriented to the city and showing us how to use the public bus systems. The continental breakfasts were delicious and filling. Highly recommend for couples or solo travelers.

Have just stayed at Alba House for 2 nights and would recommend here to anyone travelling to Edinburgh, as well as definitely staying here again if/when I come back to Edinburgh myself! The b&b is about a 30 minute walk or small bus ride from the centre, but a bit away from all the hustle and bustle too which was nice. Our room was spacious and clean and the hosts couldn’t of been more friendly and helpful, nothing was an issue including even being able to check in earlier than we thought, and also being able to leave our luggage with them too. The continental breakfast was also really big and plentiful and kept us well fuelled up for the start of a day of busy Edinburgh exploring! Thankyou so much for everything!

What can I say other than absolutely fantastic. The greeting at the front door by the host was really warm. The house has been restored tastefully and without expense. The rooms are 5 star plus with modern bathrooms. Great beds therfore great sleep 😴 Breakfast again is a joy a multitude of choices. You cannot get much better for getting into Edinburgh centre a Miles walk or a short bus journey all the buses pass the attractions. Will definitely come again. Far better than theses faceless hotels.

Had a lovely stay at Alba House. The room was spacious, very clean and decorated beautifully. Breakfast was delicious and there was plenty to keep you filled up for the day ahead. The location was right beside a bus stop and buses came regularly to take you into Edinburgh City centre However we like to walk and it only took us around 30mins to walk into Edinburgh City centre. Marketed as a classic room with coombed ceiling - should have read - converted attic room only accessed via extremely steep dangerous twisty stairs. Severely restricted headroom (badly hurt my head). Room was extremely hot (not helped by noisy boiler in bathroom) so had to have all windows and veluxes open so very noisy (owner said - that’s what you get when you book a hotel on a main bus route). Thermostat in the bedroom (hidden in a wooden box) randomly buzzed on and off all night. Wall between next room was paper thin so you can hear every conversation, TV programme and everything else! Bathroom was bland, dingy, with no shower and just not cared for. Breakfast was very basic.

Prima Zimmer mit guter Ausstattung. Tisch könnte etwas größer sein, die eingestellten TV-Programme sind zahlenmäßig etwas limitiert (oder wäre eine Bedienungsanleitung hilfreich gewesen?). Das sind wohl die einzigen "Schwachpunkte". Die Hausherrin ist sehr freundlich und entgegenkommend, das Frühstück war stets mit viel Liebe und Aufmerksamkeit zubereitet. Am Abreisetag konnten wir unser Gepäck auch nach dem eigentlichen Aus-Checken bis zur Ausreise im Haus lassen. Großes Plus: die beiden Bus Stops (sieben Linien zur South Bridge/Princes Street) sind 10 m bzw. 20 m entfernt, ein Supermarkt 300 m.

Lo mejor que nos pasó en todo el viaje recorriendo Reino Unido fué alojarnos en esta maravillosa casa. La dueña, una señora entrañable y dulce, cuida todos los detalles y esta pendiente de que el cliente se sienta como en casa. Increible desayuno y la cama extraordinaria. Volveremos ❤️ Meli y David
