Strong House Inn

Delightful Inn in Vergennes. We were in the guest house, set back a bit from the road, which is busy during the day, but deserted at night. Our room was spacious and clean. Breakfast, which we only took advantage of on one of the days of our stay, was delicious. Amy and DJ are warm and welcoming people who clearly care about their guests and the inn.

The owners were very friendly and interesting in describing the history of this house as well as describing the renovation. Their is a considerable amount of parking alongside the house and a garden. We appreciated the breakfast and having a renovated room. It is about 20 minute drive into Burlington.

Inn is really pretty and the owners are super nice. However the room and ensuite was so tiny we literally had no room for ANY luggage. The bathroom has no counter and no place for ANY toiletries, making that difficult to manage with no space in the room or area to put on makeup etc. the bathroom and shower is simply too small for this type of hotel. (Shower about 2x2). My husband dropped the soap and could not pick it up without opening the door, and it is too small to wash your hair - about like a motorhome or boat shower. The closet fits your backpack but not a carryon bag. We thought about storing our bags in the hall because at night there is no place to put them you wont trip over them. Room is not suitable for 2 Adults. Maybe ok for someone’s kids if you’re ok with your kids in a different room in a hotel, but not for a couple! Disappointing… We were biking inn to inn with a large group, and we arrived early to beat some incoming rain. They were really nice about storing our bikes and plugging them in for us - even tho we were early - and directed us into town for pizza and beer - and we found a wine store in town on the way! Town is easily walkable and really cute. We pulled up uber to see if it worked in case we got caught in the rain, and it seemed like it would have been available, which was great news. But it is a nice half mile walk and we didnt need it after all. Bed comfortable and ac worked well in September - window did not open - heat was on when we arrived and the room was hot but quickly cooled down. Room does have a TV, no ceiling fan, but as mentioned Ac works and is quiet. Surfaces are clean and decor interesting and what you expect for a Vermont Inn experience! Just hard to get past the room…. Coffee available anytime in the kitchen. Inn serves breakfast only, ck in is at 3. Inn has storage for bikes (call ahead) and owner was very helpful and knowledgeable getting us all plugged in and ready for the next day!

This is a large old house turned into an inn. So the rooms are all different; Hosts were great; property was quiet. Delicious breakfasts served in a nice dining room. Breakfast is included with the room. We had a great time.

Amy and DJ did an excellent job hosting our family reunion weekend. The breakfasts were awesome and the reunion dinner was great. The rooms were great and the fact that almost all of us were able to stay with them was wonderful. I would highly recommend them for any family event.

The room was a very clean and nice size with the most comfortable bed and pillows. We had the most delicious breakfast served which was a work of art as well. Beautiful dining area with beautiful dishes used, Every was so enjoyable to speak with. The owners Amy and Michel were a pleasure to get to know. I would say this was a highlight of our vacation.

My family and I (13 in all) stayed at the Strong House Inn for my nephew's graduation from Middlebury. We had an amazing time. The inn is beautiful, the hosts, Amy and DJ, were incredibly warm, friendly, and helpful, and the food they serve is absolutely delicious. The property is gorgeous and we enjoyed sitting in the gazebo. I stayed in the Victorian Suite with my husband and daughter and it was very very comfortable.

We were at the Strong House Inn 2 nights just last week. We stayed in The Vermont Room, which is quite large, well-appointed and "homey", with a view facing the sunset in the mountains. The private bathroom was recently remodeled with beautiful tile work. It was a very comfortable stay. Amy and Michel had great recommendations for dining and getting around the area. And a highlight for us was getting to see Bjorn, the owners' bernedoodle, as we were going in and out. Our only regret was that our schedule didn't permit us to enjoy breakfast either morning. We'd highly recommend the Strong House Inn.

In town for Middlebury's Feb Graduation.... everything was booked so opted to stay in Vergennes and fortunately it was an awesome alternative to the usual Middlebury choices. We actually much preferred this property and the town to our usual haunts an the scenery from Vergennes to Middlebury is just beautiful! Lovely place to stay with amazing views and all the comforts of a city inn in the country.
