Hotel Elbinsel

We recently travelled throughout Germany and Ireland and as a former resident of Hamburg, Germany(over 60 years ago) I wanted to experience staying across the river Elbe in Finkenwerder with great access via ferry to the Landungsbruecken in the harbour. We booked with the Hotel Elbinsel for 5 beds as we were five adults. We arrived on the 6th July about 8 p.m. to find that there was no one at the front office(office was closed). After some checking on our reservation we could call an off site Tel# and were advised that there was an access box at the rear of the hotel and access could be gained with a code. The box was very delapidated but after some difficulty my grandson, whose hands are much smaller than mine, was able to finally able to get a card providing access to room #24. We entered the room which proved to very small and normally might have been suitable for two adults to find that the hotel had crammed four bed spaces in this tiny room. Please remember that we had booked space for five adults. There was no one around who might have helped so we finally went to bed with three of us sharing a double bed in a very limited space wanting to get this matter resolved in the morning. The next morning I proceeded to the front desk and found that there was no help to be provided as the room attendant manning the desk spoke no German nor English and just said that the manager would be present later that day. Suffice to say we were not ever able to get our situation resolved as the manager was not there ion the three days that we stayed at the Hotel so we had to stay in our cramped room and try to make do which certainly put a cloud over our stay. We have since attempted to contact the Hotel management to no avail to get some recource and have been very disappointed with the service provided by ***********. On the positive side we enjoyed the location as I had hoped with the very efficient ferry service only a few streets from the Hotel. Can you imagine five adults staying in a room less than two hundred square feet with luggage and also at a time that was quite warm(27C)./ The Bathroom was adequate but again, at the end of the day, we would have been better served anywhere else and cannot recommend this Hotel. By the way, apparently breakfast was available but frankly we were too upset with the treatment we received. Another plus was that there was a grocery store across the street so we were able to get a few things to keep us going.

This hotel is Getting from bad to worse. We’ve been staying in this hotel since few years ago. When it was taken over by another management, service was still ok and then it started to go downhill. Check-in time is at 14:00. We called 10 mins before and they said We Can only check in at 14:00. We went to the supermarket and at 14:15, We called again from the hotel reception. The man answered and said There’s a traffic jam and He has no idea when He will be there and He hoped within the 15 mins. He arrived at 14:45 to check us in. I know most of them working there are Living outside of this town, still I Think it’s so irresponsible of them to not drive off earlier to work and be there before the check-in time. The main door at the entrance had always been closed and locked during the evenings. When We came back at 1:40 in the morning, it wasn’t locked at all. What’s the point of giving us a card to open the main door If it’s not locked at all? We will go back to Rilano hotel even it’s quite inconvenient to get a Cab in the evening, just to save all these frustrations.

Das Hotel ist sehr in die Jahre gekommen und wirkt schmuddelig. Das Personal ist zwar nicht unfreundlich, jedoch erwarte ich in einem Hotel einfach ein bisschen mehr Freundlichkeit, wie z.B. beim Checkout die Nachfrage wie der Aufenthalt war. Ich befürchte jedoch, das Personal weiß genau warum es nicht danach fragt. Die Toilette war komplett verkalkt und dreckig, die Amaturen im Bad ebenfalls. Nachdem meine Buchung zuerst nicht gefunden wurde, wurde ich in ein 5 m² Wohnklo einquartiert, am ersten Tag ließ die Putzfrau die Tür offen, sodass jeder den ganzen Tag in mein Zimmer hätte gehen können. Die Bewohner des Hauses waren bis spät in die Nacht sehr laut und am nächsten Morgen auch sehr früh wieder zu hören, das Zimmer war leider nicht gut isoliert, sodass man alles hören konnte was so im Flur passiert ist. Das Hotel hat keinen Aufzug und man muss mit dem Gepäck eine sehr schmale Treppe hinauf. Für die zwei Nächte die ich da war war es auszuhalten, das war es aber auch. Für diesen Preis erwarte ich da schon mehr.

Wir hatten das Hotel Elbinsel für 2 Tage in Finkenwerder gebucht. Am Vorabend haben wir aufgrund später und garantierter Anreise den Online-Checkin durchgeführt. Dieser konnte erfolgreich abgeschlossen werden. Nach unserer Anreise am Folgetag um 20 Uhr wurden uns als 3-köpfige Familie zunächst die Zugangskarten für ein Einbett-Zimmer überreicht, obwohl wir ein 3-Bett-Zimmer gebucht hatten. Nach der Feststellung und der Rückkehr zur Rezeption wurde uns mitgeteilt, dass angeblich ein Wasserschaden vorliegen würde und deshalb kein 3-Bett-Zimmer mehr verfügbar wäre - und das trotz monatelanger Vorabbuchung und erfolgreichem Online-Checkin. Auch eine Kontaktaufnahme vor oder während der Anreise erfolgte seitens Hotel nicht. Die Hotelangestellte kümmerte sich zwar um ein Alternativhotel, die entstehenden Mehrkosten wollte das Hotel aber kompromisslos nicht übernehmen. Der Kontakt zur Geschäftsführung konnte auf unsere Forderung hin nicht hergestellt werden. An diesem Abend mussten wir als 3-köpfige Familie bis 23:30 Uhr ein Alternativhotel zum gleichen Preis suchen, das 40 km außerhalb von Hamburg lag.

Also ich bin bestimmt nicht zimperlich was die Hotelzimmer so angeht, aber was zuviel ist ist zuviel! Sowas kann man echt nicht anbieten, ein 5qm Wohnklo in dem noch nicht einmal mehr das warme Wasser funktioniert. Echt eine Frechheit, ich empfehle dringend nicht in das Hotel zu gehen!

Il giorno prima avevo fatto anche check-in on line, poi tranquillamente il giorno dopo, dopo volo da Milano Ad Amburgo, mi presento alla reception e mi viene comunicato che l'albergo è pieno e che ho comunque ricevuto messaggio. E' vero che hanno inviato messaggio, ma io ero già in viaggio per arrivare. Sconcertati io e mia moglie. Mai piu.
