Das Graseck - Mountain Hideaway & Health Care

Out of the four places we stayed in Germany on this trip, this was far and away my favorite. I could have happily stayed here the entire trip! The approach by cable car makes the entrance unique and memorable, with views of the turquoise-blue water below. Upon arrival, we were given champagne in lovely glasses. All of the rooms and a shared relaxation terrace face out towards a spectacular mountain view, with the soft tinkling of cow bells heard in the distance. Absolutely magical. Our room was a junior suite with a terrace on the grassy terrace of the 1st floor. The room was very spacious, with fully enclosed toilet room, and a long vanity surface with two sinks and large glassed-in shower which faced into the bed area. A table at the foot of the bed was handy for staging our clothes and gear for the day, and the sofa, chairs, and coffee table made the space very usable and comfortable. Breakfast was an impressive buffet as well as waiter service of very tasty hot food, all included. Dinner was a delicious four-course meal with a different menu each night. The appetizers and soup courses were really stand-out for me. All that said, my favorite part of the hotel was the spa! There's nothing like coming back from a long day of hiking and sightseeing and heading straight to the sauna and outdoor infinity pool before dinner. As far as we know, there was no AC--just large tilt-and-turn doors. So--tilt the windows/doors inward, and bring your eye mask to block out the light. I didn't realize this until a few days in, but there were also two thinner blankets in the closet which were much better as covers instead of the very thick duvets provided which seem to be ubiquitous in Europe. Location was great--very close to Mittenwald (cute town and great hiking w/gorge and 2nd highest cable car), Zugspitze (highest cable car), Grainau (hiking up to a gorge), and about an hour and half from Neueschwanstein. The Parknachklamm gorge was unfortunately closed for part of our stay, so we missed hiking there, but admission to that would have been included with our stay--it's right below the hotel.

With its fantastic alpine setting and Michelin standard food Das Greseck is simply a hidden gem of a hotel serviced by its own cable car at the Partnachklamm Gorge in Garmisch Partenkirschen . The rooms are impressive and our room had a wonderful private patio with swinging chair. The food is spectacular and the service exceptional and caterers to a wide range of needs. The spa is magnificent also this was our second stay and the addition of the roof top pool overlooking the mountains was a delight. With wonderful saunas and relaxation rooms and probably one of the best massages I’ve ever had this is simply the place to come and relax . My husband and myself love it here and will definitely will be back to one of in our opinions the best hotels in the world

My husband and I spent 5 days, relaxing at this beautiful hotel in the mountains. The breakfast and dinners included with the stay were so luxurious and delicious. Our head waiter Francis Joseph went above and beyond to make us feel special. Even purchasing a special bottle of wine for us from town one day.

A very special experience, romantic and beautiful. The mountain views cannot be beat, with excellent food and wine. The location is ideal if you enjoy hiking - as several gorgeous hikes are right at your doorstep, the Parnachklamm (gorge) and the 1 hour hike up to the top of Eckbauer, from where you have a direct view of the Alpspitze and Zugspitze, highest peaks in Germany. Despite the elevation climb, it was very doable - we saw many children and families. We enjoyed the infinity pools overlooking the mountains - both heated, one required clothes while the other did not, as it was in the “nudity zone” of the 16+ spa area. Had one massage, just ok. The fitness center was spacious with a variety of cardio machines, free weights, and all-in-one weight machine. I had a yoga mat delivered to my room. The breakfast was fine, choice of fresh eggs, breakfast meats and then the standard European spread of cold choices. Sparkling wine included if you wish. The included half board 5-course dinner each night was very special. Always interesting and delicious, with a choice of meat, fish and vegetarian. I tried 3 wines (extra charge), all very solid. Highly impressed with service and quality. Judith the sommelier was very kind. I would definitely opt for a “sunny side” room facing the mountains. The bed was extremely comfortable, with a memory foam topper. The room had a complimentary minibar with non-alcoholic drinks stocked daily and a mini Illy espresso maker. The little cable car ride to the hotel was not bad at all, although I would advise against it if afraid of heights. Sometimes you had to wait a few minutes if there was a line, but it wasn’t bad. I really enjoyed our stay, and would definitely return. However, a few caveats: first, there is no A/C. We visited in the height of summer, and while it woulcool off at night, the days were in the 90s and it was quite warm - both in our room and the restaurant. It wasn’t unbearable and they gave us a fan. Second, I had prepaid our room using an online special. However, at check out they defaulted to the rack rate and attempted to charge us the difference. The manager got involved and ultimately honored the price we booked. Lastly, be aware that the Parnachklamm is very, very popular - so there are throngs of pedestrians on the small road to the hotel car park, making it rather cumbersome to drive through them coming to / from the hotel.

What a snippet of heaven! Exceptional natural setting and fantstic caring staff! Nothing was too much bother really feels home to a luxury home. Massive thank you to all the staff for making us feel so warmly welcome.

Das Graseck is a beautiful Health Retreat. The facilities are fabulous, food delicious and it has a wonderful calm ambiance. A great place to recharge your batteries. We enjoyed the heated outdoor pool and sauna and would love to return in summer to hike in the area.

Our third stay at Das Graseck - Just the prefect location for New Year celebrations. The hotel accommodation, location, staff and food all first class. Health and Spa facilities are exceptional. Cable car and short walk to town, just wonderful.
