Beautiful peaceful accommodation. Perfect beds and lining. Warm showers and heating. Had a great night's sleep. Lovely couple running the pub and accommodation. Gorgeous breakfast included. Really interesting interior of the pub-lots of memorabilia and stories. Focus on sustainability and supporting the local community. Nice walks from the pub and lots to see nearby by car too. Can get Busy in the evenings so get booked and possibly order meals ahead.

Amazing welcoming staff and fantastic pies! We were a family with friends and 2 dogs and we were so well looked after, a real surprise after reading some not so kind reviews! The owner remembered us from the Friday and very kindly gave my son some free tokens for the games machine which kept him happy and begging to go back the pub (never a bad thing LOL)

Booked this place for 2 nights as we were attending a wedding arrived at 3.30 to a place that looked like it had shut down windows were dirty and there was ****s everywhere car park was uneven and also had ****s everywhere looked at where the yurts were and everything including plant pots were full of ****s I phoned the telephone number numerous times to get no answer my sister also phoned she got to leave a voicemail and left a message we realised we could not get into rooms till 5 but with it being a pub thought we could at least get into premises we had also sent 2 emails on the Sunday before our arrival and had no answer so we thought the place had shut down going by the neglected look of the place so we decided we would need to look for alternative accommodation as we had wedding to get ready for the next day sister got phone call at 10pm from them that night but as she was already in bed did not hear it when we got back from wedding that night she had received 2 emails from Strickland second one stating that if we had not paid the balance of £200 within 3 days they were taking it to the court my sister was very upset so we have paid it so in total we have paid them £400 for nothing think they need to look at there customer service as it is appalling the same as the outside of there pub WOULD AVOIDE THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAQUE

Great room in the pub, fabulous staff, I had the best steak pie ever, and I’ve been a chef for 52 years. Service was superb, the owners could not have been more helpful, the breakfast was great which is unusual these days . We had just driven up from Cornwall for 9 hours with a very tired driver, wife and puppy but got delayed due to traffic etc, but got the best reception ever. We will be back.

Can honesty say we have never had such welcoming hosts they can not do enough. Were on our second night in Lina's hut which is clean, stylish and very spacious which is brilliant with a crazy 4 year old 😂. THE FOOD is amazing can't praise it enough GET THE PIE you would not be disappointed can't wait to come back 😁

Hearty home cooked pies and puddings were a real treat at this cosy country pub with rooms. Our bedroom in the main building was spacious and comfortable. The local WIP beer a winner too. A great stop off point on our way to the Scottish Highlands.

Excellent pub, friendly staff great atmosphere. Delicious food,good choice of beer on the bar. You will not be disappointed, highly recommended. Many thanks for a lovely evening, Frances and Julian

We booked in last minute on a mini road trip and enjoyed a warm welcome from Penny and Anton , excellent home cooked food and a spotlessly clean , comfortable room . A village pub run by people with a good heart .

Stayed in the Shepherds Hut for a night, could have not gone well as we arrived early and were let into the accommodation which was cold and hadn’t yet warmed up. But Penny set the heaters on and assured us the sheep’s wool insulation would keep us warm in no time…and she was so right, toasty warm in the beautiful bespoke shepherds hut. We had a meal in the restaurant that evening which was amazing, and such great friendly service and super friendly locals. The breakfast was amazing too, Anton and Penny are amazing hosts, really sincere and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Will definitely revisit.
