Clay was a wonderful host. His home is beautiful and so well designed and decorated. Very warm and welcoming. He is an extraordinary chef. We bought his cookbook, as he is that good! Our room was lovely, quiet, and very close to everything. Clay was very knowledgeable about the town and sightseeing. We highly recommend The Stirling House.

This review is long overdue. This was our 5th time staying with Clay and as always our experience was just perfection! Clay is a gem as is his charming house. Rooms are always clean and breakfast is always to die for. Located in the heart of Greenport the house is a short walk to everything. Clay is so accommodating and warm. Checking in is a breeze and he always has great recommendations. I always feel at home here and look forward to coming back each year. I cannot say enough good things!

We’ve just returned from a three night stay here on Long Island! What can I say, absolutely amazing B&B in such a beautiful spot. Clay was a fantastic host, extremely knowledgeable and helpful and an exceptional cook, breakfast and afternoon treats exceeded expectations. If you find yourself in Greenport, we couldn’t recommend it highly enough.

Beautiful home, great location, lovely host. This B & B was simply wonderful. We were looking for a place to relax and recharge and we found it in this B&B. Close to town and near wonderful wineries. Clay, the owner was very helpful and made us delicious breakfasts. Would definitely return.

Highly recommend staying at this charming B & B. The room was cozy and comfortable, the host is informative and helpful, and the breakfasts are creative and delicious. In addition there are afternoon home baked snacks which are so yummy. It's a peaceful location with a water view and easy walking into town.

Small quaint B & B at the end of a dead end street with fabulous views of grrenport harbor & Shelter Island. Clay is the owner and contact. He is a true chef & baker, that presents one of the finest breakfasts I've ever had at a B & B. Very old turn of the century home that is beautifully maintained. Easy walk into Greenport with an array of good restaurants. Real value for the money if you can reserve the second floor bedroom in front with gorgeous waterviews. Will go back in a heartbeat.

My husband and i wanted a special anniversary getaway and chose Greenport for its charm, shopping, wineries and charm. In researching places to stay I came across the Stirling House and was impressed by its ratings, reviews and sense of peace and charm it offered. I was not disappointed. Clay, the owner is warm, friendly and extremely helpful when asked about where to go for dinner, where to explore etc. The room overlooked Shelter Island and the bed and accommodations were all very comfortable - we had a great night's sleep. Only noise in the neighborhood are the birds. We were able to use the front porch and have a glass of wine before dinner, and even after dinner we hung out there. But one of the biggest and best surprises were the breakfasts! They are served at 9:30 and for us early birds that elt a bit late - we were ready to go exploring by then, but we stayed, and oh boy are we glad we stayed. These are 5-star gourmet breakfasts Clay prepares himself. Amazing - Instagram worthy for dure - and oh the flavor! We stayed 2 nights - and morning one was fresh fruit with yogurt and honey, a bacon cheese omelet with home fried potatoes and hot lemon blueberry scones. Day two was creme Brule French toast and fresh berries and sausage. Oh and also fresh squeezed juices and coffee and teas. WOW! I will certainly stay here again - it may become our anniversary tradition! Clay gives returning guests a special discount. He has been here 24 years and is one of the nicest most accommodating hosts I've ever had at a B&B. Thank you Clay!

This wonderful bed and breakfast was a true 'find' when looking for a weekend getaway with my husband. The location was beautiful and quiet, the inn absolutely pristine (big on MY list) and Clay was attentive without being overbearing. We were treated to a true freshly made breakfast every morning prepared by the owner. We were close enough to walk into town yet away from the hustle and bustle. We definitely look forward to returning in the future.

We stayed here for three nights in July 2022 for my partner’s milestone birthday. Stirling House is the perfect location, set on a street end that faces the water, with views of Shelter Island. The inn has three rooms and the Shelter Island room, on the second floor, has the best views of the water. The star of the show is the breakfast, each prepared by the innkeeper, Clay. He really is the consummate host, in making sure you feel at home. For my partner’s birthday, he served birthday cake in the evening and a birthday candle for breakfast. Tip: Take advantage of the town free beach pass and any discounts for wineries (we used a pass for one free tasting at Lieb Cellars). Tip: Walk around Greenport to view the historic homes and buildings; follow the guide that Clay has in the house. The stay here really relaxed me and I highly recommend staying here.
