Hotel am Gorzberg Greifswald

Very nice. I recommend.

Der Check in am 08.07.23 war sehr professionell und freundlich. Leider waren die Betten nicht für ältere Paare gemacht. Nach einer Stunde ruhen hatte man Hüftschmerzen und es half auch nicht wenn man sich auf die andere Seite legt. Die Betten hatten den Komfort einer Holzbohle. Der Bildschirm war mit ca. 26" für die Entfernung Kopfteil zum TV viel zu klein. hier wäre ein 50" angebracht. Im Mini Kühlschrank befanden sich ein Wasser, ein Bier und etwas zu Knabbern. Das Frühstück war mit eingepreist. Es war sehr reichhaltig. Da war für jeden etwas vorhanden, was aber den zu hohen Preis von 136€/Nacht nicht rechtfertigt. Wir haben schon des Öfteren in Mercure-Hotels im Saarland übernachtet und noch nie über 100,-€/Nacht gezahlt.

I stayed here a couple of days during my trip to Greifswald. Pricewise it was really attractive. Rooms and breakfast are solid. Dinner (in a buffet form) was not impressive. Location of the hotel is outside of Greifswald. So if you have own transportation, this is a solid choice. Be aware that you have some noise from the outside as you are on an industrial area.

A very good choice for a night in Greifswald. The staff are exceptional friendly. Hotel located a 30 minuts walk outside Greifswald or 5 minuts train ride ( not very frequent service). Can be a bit noicy with thin walls between rooms. Clean. Plenty of parking in local area. No points of interest around the hotel - only office blcks and a petrol station.

The Good: 24 h reception, friendly staff, free mini bar The Room: Clean, but small. No safe in the room. The Bad: Expensive breakfast, not worth it Good enough for a night or two, would not book a longer stay.

I have stayed here before and usually use it when I am traveling to other cities to spend the night on the way. The location is not that good. It is in walking distance of the train station "Greifswald-Süd" (this is NOT the central station), as well as a super market and a Maccas. Nothing else. Can´t say if the area is served by public transport but they have a lot of free parking lots. So it´s ok when you have a car. The rooms are basic, the TV is very small and there is no kettle. So you are not able to self prepare a coffee or tee. So far I thought thats a minimum for a Mercure but seems not. Shower pressure very very low! The hotel is advertising with a free mini bar. Yes thats correct and its always stuffed with the same amount: One bottle of water, one beer, one small apple juice and a small bag of peanuts. During my last stay I used the online checkin and received at 1.30pm a message to my phone that the room key is now ready for pickup. We were still in the city but made our way then to the hotel. We arrived at the reception at 2.21pm and were told that checkin starts at 3pm. I said that I received a message that my room key is ready but this was just ignored and I was told checkin at 3. Then I asked if this is also applicable for gold members to get the answer that the rooms are still in cleaning progress. Ah yes, 39min before official checkin time you are still cleaning the 100 rooms, sorry for asking. We were then offered to store our luggage until checkin time which we made use of. And there comes the part of loyalty program member ship. I am gold level with Accor and I usually expect not much. Last time it was a drink voucher for the bar and in the room was a little plastic wrapped gift consisting of a small honey glas and nougat spread glas. Not sure if this was the welcome amenity as there was no card or anything, but I guessed so. This time: nothing! No drink voucher, no welcome amenity, no upgrade (probabliy all rooms are the same). The bar was closed during my visit but people got their drinks from the restaurant to sit outside on the hotel terrace. So I wouldn´t see any reason not to hand them out. Anyhow, as there was nothing mentioned, it was just simply ignored. If I gave my loyalty card number? I booked via the App and it was also mentioned during online checkin. Would I stay here again? For a night on a way, most probably. Not if I would stay a few days.

Welcome and Employees: Parking is in front and behind the hotel and the front area was quite full. Fast, friendly and efficient check-in by the young man at the Reception. Proof of corona test was required. Staff in the restaurant was helpful Room and Facilities: Location was okay, – only a 8 – 10 minute drive to town, but not a good location without a car. Room was clean and modern. Breakfasts Standard breakfast with a decent choice of food of hot and cold foods and some fresh fruit. Slightly better than the Best Western's we have stayed in. Summary and Recommendation: A fair-value when staying in Greifwald. The hotel and room is exactly what you expect – clean, relatively modern and meets a specific expectation.

Wir hatten das Frühstück dazu gebucht. Das Buffet war ausreichend groß und bot alles was man braucht. Dadurch konnten wir das Tagesgericht vergünstigt zu 6 EUR bestellen. Wir hatten 2 Wochen lang fast täglich das Tagesgericht zum Abendessen. Es war superlecker und abwechslungsreich. Die kostenlose Nutzung der Sauna fand ich genauso toll wie die kostenlose Minibar. So kann man die Ausgaben gering halten wenn man geschäftlich unterwegs ist. Die Betten sind sehr bequem. Das Hotelzimmer ist schon in die Jahre gekommen, daher ist das Bad auch kein Highlight mehr. Aber täglich wird ordentlich geputzt und es gibt frische Handtücher. Der Teppichboden im Zimmer ist der einzig echte Makel der mir aufgefallen ist. Er ist fleckig und unansehnlich, ich war froh, dass ich Schlappen dabei hatte.
