Hotel Boutique Casa de las Manrique

Great hotel! Some of the pros: -Very friendly and accommodating staff. I had to check in almost 8 hours early due to a flight rescheduling and they were kind enough to let me in without purchasing an extra night. They don't speak much (if any English) but do their best to communicate with the help of Google translate. There were no issues or questions that we couldn't resolve. They also courteously held our luggage for us after checking out. -They keep the front door closed at night but the front desk is staffed 24 hours a day to let you in if you're out late. -The hotel and room were very clean. They performed turn-down service every day (I was expecting almost none due to COVID). The bathroom was smallish but modern with a walk in shower and low flush toilet. -Great spacious rooms with an antique furnishing style, tall ceilings. -Fantastic central location, less than a 10 minute walk to many sights, museums, restaurants. The few cons: -Room rates fluctuate. First saw the Suite con Doble Balcon for $1400 pesos/night. The price spiked to $2000 so I purchased, only for the price to fall back to $1400 two days away from the trip, so don't panic if you see rates rise! Upon checking in, I noticed there was sign in the front saying there was currently a special rate of $950 per night. So maybe call and ask before purchasing online? -Street noise. My suite con doble balcon was up against the street. The balcony doors were thin, the street is loud between people, vendors playing music, and buses. There were also only thin sheer curtains, no drapes. So lots of noise (and light in the morning). I'm a heavy enough sleeper that it didn't both me but I could see it bugging some lighter sleepers. In which case make sure not to get a room against the street (Room 1 and Room 2). I think there's only 8 rooms in the hotel though. -Breakfast. I don't really recommend the breakfast except for convenience. The concierge informed me that the hotel does not have a kitchen so they purchase the breakfast from the down the street and set in up in your room (tablecloth and everything!). But still I'd recommend going out for breakfast if you have time; it will be hot and fresh and half the price! Overall highly recommended and would stay here again!
