Knockderry Country House Hotel

What an amazing place to stay. Beautiful, clean luxurious environment. Food out of this world. Staff were overwhelmingly helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Felt incredibly spoilt, highly recommend a stay here, will definitely be returning.

Recently called in for a refreshment stop at Knockderry House which we have stayed at a number of times in the past. It is a hotel resonating with old fashioned charm, character, decor and comfort with excellent friendly and obliging service. It is not for those who want something glitzy and contemporary. Everything, despite the change of ownership, was as before save that there appears now to be canned music in the lounge. This is a retrograde step for anyone wanting complete peace and relaxation. Guests should at least be asked if they want it switched on.

Knockderry House exceeded our expectations from check in to check out. However, there was one isssue after we left that cost us 150 pounds. I’ll address that later. This place is so charming and cozy. The setting, right off the Loch was spectacular. The staff gave us incredible service and I believe it was Ben that spent so much time tending to our every need and want. He gave us so much information and history on the house. He lit the fire if we were getting chilly, while having our drinks in the sitting area. We had Easter dinner at Knockderry, it was delicious, well presented, and the price was very decent for the food that we received. The rooms were warm and cozy and the beds were comfortable enough. We received a charge of 150 pounds on our credit card two days after checking out, so I emailed to see what it was for. They explained to me that there was a hole in the wall after we checked out. They sent pictures, and I agree that the hole was not there when we checked in, but it was also not there when we checked out. It was over in an area that we didn’t use, we had no luggage over there. There was a small desk and chair off to the side, and the hole is aligned with the back of the chair. So it seems as if the chair is what put the hole in the wall. We never used the chair, and that size of hole we would have definitely noticed if we were to hit it as it would have been quite loud. I understand that they have to charge us for the damage but I am sure that staff accidentally caused this damage. With this being said, I still give Knockderry a 9/10 because we absolutely loved the place.

We had an overnight stay at Knockderry and had the tasting menu in the restaurant. The sun was shining and we sat out on the terrace having drinks it was glorious, the views over the loch were fantastic. We stayed in the library suite which had amazing panoramic views of the loch and was very comfortable. The tasting menu paired with wine was fabulous, Ben was excellent and was very knowledgeable about the food and wine. Overall a wonderful stay and will definitely be back.

We were only there for a one night stay but it was a great place and had everything we needed and more. The bed was comfortable, the food was great and the staff were friendly and helpful. One gentleman there took the time to tell us where to go for a nice nature walk and provided details about the area which were helpful. We highly recommend this hotel!

We arrive last night. The place is absolutely stunning and the view amazing. We ended up in room 12 inter the roof. The bathroom as been remodeled but they kept an old and ugly light above the sink that has no use. No place to open your vanity in this huge bath bathroom and the curtain of the bathtub was stained. No heat in the bathroom which was cold, The bedroom was nicely decorated but the mattresses are totally worn out. We woke up with a sore back ☹️. The dining room is beautiful but the breakfast was very disappointing and overly priced. Conclusion: nice place but too expensive for what it is.

Stayed recently for one night only. The hotel house itself is beautiful and the view from the garden to the loch even more. Everything is very idilic and well maintain. They do have onsite parking. Our room was not the best for us as it was on the first floor with a window that was overlooking the roof of the kitchen so the extractor noise did not stop till they close the service around 20.30 or so. Did not bother us to sleep but yes when we were on our rooms just trying to rest after a long day. Besides that, breakfast was ok too. Price is a bit high for what I have been staying and checking.
