One of my best friends was visiting Hemel Hempstead for the first time and, as somewhere I have regularly eaten at for years, I suggested treating ourselves to a night at The Olde Kings Arms. We arrived to find the front bar quite busy but, even so, the deputy manager behind it (who is always helpful and efficient) quickly greeted us and then escorted us all the way to our room, explaining things on the way. Our room was spotlessly clean, bright and spacious. It was quite a hot afternoon and the air conditioning was a godsend, both then and late evening – quick and easy to operate/adjust and very effective. The beds were really comfy and I liked the fact there were plenty of bedside tables! There was ample wardrobe space and a useful desk/dressing table to sit at. The range of teas, coffees etc. available was amazing. The en suite was so clean as well with lots of room to move around in, a particularly spacious shower and plentiful, fluffy towels. When we went to the breakfast area there was a nice, calm a**osphere. The young lady who served us was very friendly and polite. I liked that there was more than one flavour of fruit juice to pick from. We didn’t have cereal because we were saving ourselves for the full English! The amount of other dishes available was brilliant though and everything sounded good. Our cooked breakfasts were attractive to look at and delicious (as the food always is) and the several requirements we had were noted down carefully and all faithfully adhered to. All in all, it was such an enjoyable stay.
