We were a family of 8 including 3 children.. staying at the hotel for 2 nights. The hotel location is perfect and few only meters away from the waterfront. There’s a checkers and click right below the hotel which is very convenient if you need to grab some food or necessities. The only issue we had with the hotel was with the service that we were offered and the way the management handled it. We arrived in the hotel around 6 PM and by the time we settled ourselves and ordered some food, the power went out at 8 PM. I informed Danie (WhatsApp) at the reception about the power cut, who said it’s load shedding and was very casual about. We were not informed about this at check in time nor after that. We had kids with us so it got difficult for us to manage. Apparently the load shedding was daily for 2 hours and we were not informed about it. The following day upon checking with danie again regarding the power cut he said he didn’t know the load shedding time, however one hour before the power cut we were sent a note in the room about the timing of the load shedding, which we had missed seeing. We had two rooms, but the note came to one room only, and it was missed. He could have easily sent a message via WhatsApp as that is how we were communicating since the reception is quite away from the rooms. We were really upset as we didn’t know this would happen again. Overall this experience was not good. Danie was helpless. The following day the manager came to us and offered breakfast, however it was too late and just after 9 AM, we were already done with our breakfast. We were not given any compensation on our stay, however they did say we can stay a night extra for free but obviously we had our onward plan booked. This handling of the situation didn’t go down well with us, but the hotel for stay in the centre of Hermanus is perfect. Just remember there’s no generator and there’s power cut for 2 hours everyday.
