No, I don't give 5 stars because this is a hotel with an exceptional high quality. I give a 5 star rating because this hotel gives you value for money. A nice clean hotel room with a Nespresso coffee maker, tea kettle, ironing gear, multiple kind of cushions, working WIFI and clean fresh rooms. The diner was excellent with big desserts. Friendly staff. And the breakfast was just phenomenal.

Eaten here twice. Quite pricy but ok. Must say the food tastes good but the potatoes were a bit greasy. Both times I have eaten here. Nevertheless it is good. Staff very helpful and friendly. I would recommend this place. They have automated robots. That take and bring the plates from and to the kitchen. That way the staff has more time to spend with the clients. That is good for the atmosphere.

Very nice hotel in a good location. Staff very friendly and the food good. Room fine although you have to go out of the building to reach the bedrooms. There are numerous places to visit although we bypassed Groningen

The room is accessible through a separate entrance. The door may be locked if you are late or early. The walls are thin and conversations in other rooms are laudible. Parking is free which is useful. It is not easy if you have heavy luggage or have crutches or are elderly. It was overall ok to come and visit again if in the area.

Stayed one night on our way through. Lovely beds, delicious dinner and breakfast. We stayed in a room with renovated bathroom. A bit of a treck to get to but worth it. Dinner was lovely and big portions so couldn’t finish it all

Nice place outside of the city. Calm, nice green area, great stay with a dog. Nice food in the restaurant. Be careful not to mix with the other Van Der Valk hotel - we managed to go the the wrong at 1st . Good that it is only 15 min away

The windows in our room didn’t close properly. Due to that there was a lot of noise from the street which disturbed the nights sleep. We tried to fix it ourselves but it was not possible. Told the receptionist as well.

My daughter left a toy and only realised after we returned to our country. However, these nice people in the hotel (Hanneke, Eline, Laura, Naomi and Donya) were so nice and helped me arrange to have the toy sent back to me. They were so helpful throughout and even sent a nice present together with our item. On the night after checking in, I was waiting at the lobby and witnessed how a staff went out of her way to look for a pair of bedroom slippers for the guest. One sure way of ensuring guests stay again is good service. How many times have we read reviews of people saying they will not ever return due to the bad service they experienced? Well I am sure I definitely will stay here again. Thank you very much, wonderful ladies.

I just love this hotel. Staff is lovely. Rooms are wonderful. Food is so good that you have to go on a weight loss diet after the stay. I'll be back. I hope it will be soon. A bit far outside Groningen, but that doesn't matter. Take the bus downtown and enjoy beautiful Groningen as well.
