Comfort Inn Jackson I-40

front desk staff, not open to helping....policies trump customers. want to check in early by 1 hr- nope against policy. wanted to extend late check out willing to pay extra- nope against policy. POLICY is king not the paying customer

Our room smelled musty or moldy or something. I spent more to stay one night that I did when I stayed at other locations that were Comfort Suites!! The young lady that checked us in was nice and helpful. The breakfast lady in the morning wasn’t real friendly. I never saw her smile. We didn’t eat breakfast as my husband wasn’t feeling well and we had a long way to go. I think next time, I’ll stay somewhere else.

We reserved a room and when we pulled in the parking was restricted by construction materials. We had called earlier but no one answered the phone and the message said no messages would be taken. The night manager was put out and canceled our reservation. I was told there was truck parking, an unmarked dirt lot down the street. Choice hotels needs to drop this franchise as they can’t seem to communicate nor tell prospective customers that they may be paying for damaged goods.

The room was a bit musty smelling but otherwise it was clean and neat. The bed was comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was hot for the most part - good for a hotel buffet. It’s a little off the beaten path and the place to turn is not well lit. If my husband had not been with me I might not have wanted to stay there but I felt safe with him.

I'm writting this review, not to bash the hotel, but to hopefully get their attention and to correct a problem with someone misinterpreting the law. I've contacted Choice corporate but not response. I would also like to urge pet owners to not take advantage and try to misrepresent there pets as service animals. Service animals go through very extensive and expensive training and are needed to help us cope. By abusing our rights you are making things more dificult for those who really need service animals and that the law is there to protect. That being said, THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR HOW WE WERE TREATED. My wife and I had been traveling about 8 hours from Virginia and were tired, so we made a reservation on the road at this hotel. I have severe PTSD and travel with a Service dog. Upon arrival the girl at the counter was very pleasent and asked if that was a service dog and what it was trained to do(which are allowable questions under the ADA). When she was told it was trained to detect and react to an on coming panic attack from PTSD, she reply that PTSD is not a disability and that was a Emotional support dog and we could not stay. The definition from the ADA, title II and III of a Service dog is, "a dog that is individually trained to do work or preform a task for the benefit of an individual with a disability". When we tried to explain that my dog was issued by the VA, is a Psychiatric Service animal trained to preform a specfic task, and covered under the ADA and federal law, she became very defensive and belligerent and stated ,she knows the laws and we were wrong and we needed to leave before she calls the police. I urged her to go to the website ada.gov and check the information, her response was "I know what talking about and PTSD dogs are Emotional support animals", and told us again to leave or she's going to call the cops. I tried to tell her that I know there are imposters out there that abuse the law but I was not one of them and that the dog was prescribed to me by a Physician and trained, and we just wanted a decent place to rest. She then said leave and go down the street to another hotel that accepted pets or she's calling the police. We ended up having to drive further down the road to find another place. Since I'm a choice rewards member, went to the Comfort suites and was checked in with no issues . BTW the hotel she suggested that accepted pets had a 1.5 star review. I shouldn't have to stay at a place like that because I have issue from a war that are beyond my control.

This hotel is right next to I-40 with easy access . Due to its location the hotel is very quiet. Chekc in was quick and easy. The hotel has ice and a breakfast selection. Beds were comfrotable, and showers had plenty of water pressure. Check out was easy.

Due to a prior bad experience with a Comfort Inn in a different state I refused to consider booking them during our recent travels. I relented and booked this particular Comfort Inn because the price and location was right. We were pleasantly pleased. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean. Breakfast was hot and plentiful with a nice variety of fresh foods. Overall a great stay.

DO NOT STAY HERE if you are driving anything bigger than a pickup. U-Haul? Stay away. Penske? Stay away. Semi? Stay away. Even though it says they take trucks, they don't. You can't drive around the entire building, and the parking lot is too small to be able to turn around. I will not be back.

Stayed here recently, when I pulled up I thought this motel looked a little shabby, but I was pleasantly surprised the lobby is really clean and the hotel is spotless from top to bottom, hotel is a little on the older side of things, hotel is likely over 20 years old. Not a huge property only 2 stories, they got an outdoor pool which looks cool. Good Breakfast here much better than most other Comfort Inns, small selection but ok for a morning snack. I will say this property could some minor renovations to make the hotel a little more "modern" as the hotel seems to be rather old. But then again, I found this motel to be "nostalgic" it reminds me of the motels I grew up staying at as a kid. Hotel has got a strong 2000s vibe.
