Kars Konak Hotel

Kars Konak Hotel is in an excellent location, in the centre of town: opposite the grand mosque and a short walk from the Kars castle.The rooms were always impeccably clean, the beds were comfortable, and the building was heated so the cold from outside was not felt. The facilities were well maintained with the beds made and the rooms cleaned every day. Kars Konak hotel had a hospitable and warm atmosphere with friendly and attentive staff.

Money trap. They denied the price we agreed and demanded much more money when we were checking out. On the same line you will find many better hotels. If you don’t want your holiday to be ruined don’t choose this hotel. The guy on the reception at morning shift he was not helpful at all and he was very rude with us. I felt unsafe. Mostly there lots of man on the coach near reception behind the desk and it is really hard to express yourself after seeing their face expression

This is a real honest review from me - a solo female traveller. I picked this hotel because it is near to the train station. I am only in Kars for the train. I also read some review from fellow train travellers who gave excellent reviews on this place and how helpful they are. I want to say good things like the others, but I experience differently. Here is my review. 1. I went alone and arrive late at night, so I messaged them on agoda asking if they could arrange a taxi for me. No reply! I emailed them, no reply! So I whatsapp the number on their website. He said 'of course,of course anything write to me' 'we are used to having traveller from dogu train' 'dont worry,we will send taxi'. You see from my point, I am anxious because I will arrive late at night (1.30am) because the train will delay as expected and I am alone. I also messaged him 40mins before I arrive - no reply. Called his whatsapp no, no pick up. Then, I called the hotel --- nothing can be done because... the hotel reception said 'NO ENGLISH'! That was what the hotel said! What am I suppose to do in a phone call? I cant even use a translation app through a call! So what was the point of the earlier engagement with the whatsapp? Fake politeness and hospitality! 2. When I ARRIVE, I read reviews they were nice and welcoming with a smile- what smile? I was not given any short info on my stay or wifi, nothing. 3. The room - was minimal. A place to sleep, fairly clean. Which is fine for me. 4. Wifi is not connectable,almost non existent- so make sure you have ample phone data. 5. Breakfast - basic and ok. Palatable. ok. 6. I do notice they are more attentive and 'nice' during the day when the boss is around - but I was already upset to even be nice to people at this point. 7. I gave them a second chance and being open to kindness during the check-out; but no, didnt offer to help with bags, then took so long to check-out. I am the type to research and read all these reviews before making decisions, and usually I would agree, but this time, NOPE. I am telling this for people to expect the imprefection. However, listen, POSITIVELY, if you are looking for somewhere just to rest ONLY ; and near to the station, this is it. The location is great with nearby restaurants, grocery shops, etc. The unmetered taxi from station to the hotel is 20TL one way. Please improve where you can, and dont give false hope or false assurance anymore and pls walk the talk. Kalau xleh pun, guna app translate kan ada. kalau dia nak tolong tu dia tolong je ada cara, diaorg ni mmg macam tak nak tolong langsung. tak tahu english bukan penghalang, nak tak nak tolong je.

I would highly recommend this hotel which is well located on a main shopping street. The hotel was excellent value for money, with a good, comfortable room and bathroom and good selection of food for breakfast. The owner and staff were very friendly and the owner speaks good english and helped advise me on how to visit Ani, sights in Kars and onward travel, even calling the bus company for me which I highly appreciated, nothing was too much trouble for them. Even though my room was over the main street, it was not noisy. The hotel is in a very good location, walking distance to the castle and other sights in Kars and it is easy to find good places to eat nearby. I was travelling as a woman alone and felt very safe and comfortable here. I highly recommend as a very good value and well located hotel in Kars.

The hotel is centrally located in the city center. In front they are building a huge mosque. No private parking. So if lucky you can park in the street in front of the hotel. We weren't lucky but the hotel staff arranged parking at a place at the back of the hotel. Reception and breakfast staff are very friendly. And some of them speak a bit of English. Breakfast was rather basic, probably due to Covid19-rules. The rooms are spacious but the bathroom is a bit outdated. They don't provide daily room cleaning service.

I would not recommend this hotel at all. Firstly, check in and personell were unprofessional (receptionist was having fun with some friends outside all evening long). Also, next morning lersonell were quite unfriendly, non helpful, even rude at aome moment. The room was on the top floor. It was extremely hot, it reached over 37 degees in the morning, one could not sleep at all. Rooms are much outdated, could be cleaner. There were some bugs in the room, but that can be also a coincidence (opened windows etc.). Breakfast was worst in Turkey so far. In the hotel no one speaks Turkish. We then changed to Grand Ani Hotel, the experience is 1000 % better, would definatelly recommend that one over Konagi in every view. I do not uunderstand how Konagi got such high ratings and Grand Ani such low.

Otelde kaldığımız süre içinde, gerek resepsiyonda, Abdullah bey, ve diğer arkadaşlar son derece ilgili , nazik ve yardimcıydı. Hepsine teşekkür ediyoruz . Muhlis beye gara birakarak yaptigi jestten ayrıca teşekkürler. Otelin konumu muhteşem ,her yere yakın, odalar temiz ve sıcak. Kesinlikle tavsiye ediyoruz.
