How do I summarize this! My stay at the Kamru was supposed to be only for 4 days, surely wouldn't have been enough to soak in enough. Anyway, the weather dictated that it was eventually 9 days of pure bliss. The property is a couple of minutes of walk from the main road which means even though you're close to the necessities, you get the feeling of being nestled deep in the mountains; and a certainty that any smell of petrol/diesel won't get between you and uninterrupted smell of fresh mountain air! There are dorms, tents, deluxe rooms and duplex rooms depending on your budget. You won't go wrong with any! The tents feel luxurious, those who love hostels would be treated with spotless clean rooms and washrooms and attic rooms are luxury personified. Yeah I checked them all out (stayed in the duplex room), what would you do when snowfall gives you all the time in the world? Oh and did I tell you, you get heated mattresses? The caretakers are the lifeline of the place and you can count on them, the owners are practically family! The food is great, the portions are huge and you can ask for gentler, less spicy food too. Yes, it is that customizable! But almost everything I've written above will become redundant if you sit by the window, by the porch or any of the hundred different spots in and around the property and just watch the time go by. There is enough to be done around the area, you could go to the nearby villages, you could go to the fort, you could even walk aimlessly around the diverging roads. But would you be able to block all the chaos and the noise sitting by the lake, by the mountains and not think that this is enough? I'd say it's very much possible! Cheers!
