Jufa Hotel Kronach – Festung Rosenberg

We celebrated our Golden Wedding anniversary weekend with our children and grandchildren in the "atmospheric" Festung Rosenberg, with beautiful views over Kronach and had a wonderful, memorable time thanks to the very helpful and friendly staff. Have to especially mention Frau Herzog and Herr Thompson here who went out of their way to make our stay so enjoyable, despite their shortage of staff generally. The buffet food was delicious and plentiful and we were even able to order a special cake for the occasion. The children's tour of the castle was very interesting, and to be recommended. Very good value for money. The grandsons (aged 7 to 11) loved their bunk beds and bed "up in the roof", the play area inside (perhaps renew and add a few more toys e.g. Lego) and equipment outside - in the castle's former moat I believe. They are "into" castles and knights at the moment - so all very appropriate. An outdoor seating area "under cover" would have been welcome during the warm but showery weather. All in all an unforgetable and very happy family hotel location.

Excellent hotel with beautiful views of the city of Kronach, plus a good breakfast and a bar where you can enjoy a good beer. It is located in the Rosenberg fortress, which gives it an old-fashioned atmosphere, but with good heating, comfortable rooms, and a beautiful place to wake up to each day. I recommend it 100%.

Fantastic setting, great hotel, not too busy, lovely small play area indoors and outdoors. Very friendly staff. Only small criticism is that the hotel didn’t do food on a Wednesday which was only an issue because we arrived late after a long journey with young kids but there are plenty of restaurants a short stroll away.

An excellent blend of ancient and modern, this hotel is in a stunning and well maintained fortress. Not for the feint hearted it sits atop a steep hill and even moving around the building involves expending energy! However, it’s well worth the moderate effort as the modern facilities are pristine, staff friendly and helpful and the breakfast excellent. For something a little different I would highly recommend a visit!

This hotel is located in an ancient fortress, located above Kronach. Room is big enough, toilet and bathroom separated and quite small. Bed is quite comfortable. WIFI is easily accessible and quite strong so that you have a fast and reliable connection. B'feast and dinner (dinner not available every day) provides a good and delicious selection. Parking is available inside the fortress.

Super hotel on a perfect place. The rooms are great, nice beds and fast internet. Also this hotel is for families a perfect place to stay You have to go to the restaurant named Bastion for diner. Take the schnitzel with preiselberen

Hotel is very special because it is in the Festung. So the surroundings are quite imposing. The fortress is still in good shape. Because of the site it is not adviced for people with impaired mobility ( cobble stones, steep climbs). Breakfast is good, although a little busy. There is always more. Staff is adequate and friendly. The rooms are clean and lightly decorated. They are not very big and have no outdoor area.

Bad service, the room which supposedly is for 2 persons is super small, nothing like the rooms shown on the website. I am completely disappointed. The only thing going for this hotel is the location but beware the hotel can't be reached by car so you'll have to carry your suitcases up to the hotel.

Schon bei unserer Ankunft waren wir begeistert! Zwar hatten wie etwas Pech mit dem Wetter, aber mit dem richtigen Gewand und Regenschirm war das kein Problem! Beim Checkin wurden wir herzlichst begrüßt. Da wir zu früh da waren, machten wir noch einen Tagesausflug zur Plassenburg. Als wir am Abend wieder im Hotel waren, begrüßte uns ein sehr netter Kellner. Er "schupfte" den Abendservice & Rezeption & Telefon alleine. Wirklich TOP!!! Die von ihm mit Liebe zubereiteten Getränke waren schnell an unserem schönen personalisierten Tisch. Dann durften wir uns unser Abendessen vom Buffet holen. Es gab an beiden Abenden Fisch & Fleisch mit passend frischem Gemüse. Das Schweinsfilet war perfekt rosa gegart! Dazu eine reiche Auswahl an Gemüse, Pasta und Beilagen. (Das Kartoffelgratin und der Blattspinat waren meine Highlight's) Für Kinder ist auch genügend da. Ein großes Salatbuffet und Suppe rundeten das Ganze ab. Als Dessert gab es frischr Obstplatten, Kuchen und selbstgemachten Apfelstrudel mit Vanillesauce. Für die kleinen Gäste gab es ein "Streuselbuffet" und Eis. Ein großes Lob an die Küche!!! Unser Zimmer war eine Überraschung! Über eine alte Wendeltreppe (Aufzug ist auch da!) Ging es für uns in den 2. Stock. Die schönen alten Gänge mit Blick in den Innenhof sind hier so schön und autentisch! Im Zimmer freute sich unsere Prinzessin über ihre eigene Etage mit Leiter und Netz, ihr eigenes "Reich" Das Bad mit Dusche und WC war sehr sauber. Das Zimmer mit Kästen, TV, Garderobe perfekt ausgestattet. Der Blick aus dem Fenster war auch einzigartig! Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Das Frühstück glänzte mit regionalen Produkten. Warmen Eiern, Rührei, Speck, Würstchen,... Wurst-, und Käseplatten Aufstrichen, Joghurt, Birchermüsli, Obstsalat, Cerealien, Tee's Plassenburger Säfte, Brötchen,... und das Highlight "Waffeleisen" zum selbst gießen! Sehr, sehr lecker! Die selbstgemachten Marmeladen und die unterschiedlichsten Honige wurden in essbaren Schüsselchen serviert, sehr nachhaltig! Finden wir supertoll! Zu sehen gibt es hier genug! Ein eigener toller Kinderspielbereich Indoor und Outdoor mit "Burgspielen" war super! Wir besuchten noch Führungen und das Erlebnisbad Crana Mare. Die Altstadt erkundeten wir auch zu Fuß. Wir kommen bestimmt wieder, auch wenn die Anreise aus Kärnten etwas länger dauert. Liebe Grüße!!!
